Utter madness.

They are renting it for a monthly fee:rolleyes:

The £3 a month is for enhanced peg data, a dedicated 10 meg BB connection plus apps etc to use that connection.

Oh and it's not a purchase, it's an upfront rental fee......

It's great value for money if these are things you want. If you are happy with what you have then it doesn't matter what the upfront fee etc is. ;)

Exactly!

VM's pricing model (and I'm not going to enter in to an argument here!) is totally different to Sky's.

Sky sell you the equipment and it's yours. Sky have got a portion of their cost to them back straight away (£250 for a 1TB box)... if anything goes wrong after the 12 months then it's up to you to pay for repairs/replacement. or pay Sky's warrenty.

With VM, they ask you to pay an upfront rental fee to cover a portion of the cost. If anything goes wrong EVER while you are a customer then you get repairs and a replacement Free for life. Plus any subs refunded for the days without a service.

:)

I prefer to look at it as a lifetime warranty, if you keep the box for say 4 years it's cost you £37.50 a year for unlimited repairs or a replacement.

You'll get no argument from me :D

VM's pricing model is way better than Sky's IMHO and considering the price of the Sky HD box, I think the TIVO pricing is very good value.

I totally agree with all that passingbat! I personally think the rental of the box is far more beneficial to the customer. You can't use Virgin boxes anywhere, and really you can't with Sky either, you just get Freeview with no subscription.

Do I take it then that calls are still going out from the Tivo team and now normal customers are receiving them?

I definitely registered but cannot find any email confirmation about it. I'm pretty sure I didn't receive one. I didn't receive one when I signed up on the 100mb one either. Oh no, now I don't know if I'm registered or not

I am of the same opinion. I would have possibly paid the £149 last week but don't see why i should now. I have a broken ankle and off till May so would have liked something new to play with to keep away the boredom during the day:)

Does anyone know, if you miss a call and do a 1471, do you get:

The telephone number of the caller

Caller withheld their number

Call was from a network...

Thanks

That would be interesting to know. We missed a call on the landline yesterday and it was an 0207 (or might have been 0203) number, but I'm pretty sure that wasn't VM.

Thanks 6 months of sitting about. :td:

I was swithering last week and it would have been the boredom factor that would have sold me on it. I generally don't watch a great deal of tv but just looking for things to fill my time until may.

I'm sure at the start there will other people to take my place but £149 is something i am not prepared to give Virgin Media now.

I am am sitting here costing out options which is something I would have been doing last week.

Re: TiVo

I had the call about 30mins ago .... hoorah

and I'm not a VIP customer.... just triple XL.

However, they couldn't book me in for an install as the system already holds an upgrade for me booked for 16th to go from BB-XL to BB-XXL

That's ridiculous that the two couldn't go on the system at the same time.... have to call back once my XXL upgrade had gone through.

Very annoying as TiVo is far more important to me than my BB upgrade :td:
