This entire scandal could bring down the government, if this was Joe Bloggs in the street, there would be hell to play.

I bet there are a load of barristers who are smacking there lips at the thought of money.

The whole business stinks.

Where have you been Arthur? Of course it stinks.
What we must hope is that the government survives but learns to keep the press barons and media at a barge poles length and that any regulatory body is not only recognised by the media but is applicable to all newspapers and it will be easily used by the public at large if the industry won't or can't clean up it's act.

It won't bring down the Government. The Tories are just as complicit as the Labour. However this is more a realistic consequence of the media's power imo.

People didn't fight wars to force us to vote you know.

I think voting should be made easier so it fits in with our busy lives, I mean voting on a Thursday, how about on a Sunday and incorporate it into the school fate/ church bizarre or text voting, if it can tell us who has won big brother it should cope with elections easily and without a whiff of controversy as long as itv are kept out of it. They could bring in an incentive to vote scheme rather than a fine to, council tax goes up twenty percent but you get a twenty two percent discount if you vote in all the elections.

Culture Secretary Jeremy Hunt "acted wisely" in his handling of the BSkyB takeover bid, David Cameron has said.
The PM said he had sought advice from the cabinet secretary before deciding to give responsibility for the bid by News Corp to the culture secretary.

Speaking on the BBC's Andrew Marr Show, Mr Cameron said the culture secretary had given "a good account of himself" to the Leveson Inquiry and to Parliament.
Well he would.wouldn't he? He's not going to say anything else to put his judgement under the spotlight.

I hate that marr programme its political mouthpiece for who goes on. Lets them talk rubbish never grills them.

Few years back there was political show on sunday morning they dear not go into spiders web.

He even got thatcher flustered she walked out never would let them use political licence to avoid questions.

We need that sort hard hitting shows to return. Would rather see beeb use paxman on sunday morning shove marr into some corner.

Cameron shown pressure will make him crumble..

Cameron should learn harsh lesson its not the indescession what downs you its the web of deceit and lies. He now going further and further into this murky level. He looking right idiot too.

Keep peddling protecting hunt till your blue in face it will lose you big time. The more he defends him more I am sure he murdocks bitch too. Osbourne yet another big issue too what his involvement in the mess. He championed hunt to replace him got very close ties with murdocks.

Web deceit will down them like it downed nixon.

Love how he said acted wisely  he could not wait get to meetings for them smoothed over obsticles. Yet rivals got the brush off letter.

http://yfrog.com/z/mmwmonj

He was never impartial looking the evidence who cameron think he kidding. Why did hunt use own private phone instead of official line what is he hiding.

I think the more this goes on its even bigger watergate.

I think you may be confusing John Nott (who walked out on Robin Day) with Margaret Thatcher....

maybe few moons ago remember he kept repeating the question on and on, refused to answer it.

What remembering the bloke had speech imperiment like roy hodgson.

He was so good at his cross examination polititians refused to go on air. Now come to think this may been what remember she would refuse to go on air with him. Maybe the confusion its been such long time.

Robin day was good too only paxman today has the nerve to hound the truth. Todays polititians have it easy they only got paxman to avoid.

Politics so much fun during this period peter snow with his graphics hard line grilling of mp's.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ln3SpXXYTHY

We need that sort of cross examining with MP's just sitting there letting them say whatever they like despite the glaring obvious dont help either.

It seems not only politics become weak over years but media got too close to ask those challenging questions anymore.

Those who do get chucked on BBC2 late night out the way of many prying eyes.

If only we could roll back to the days robin day. The one cant remember.

At very least beeb needs to get paxman in to marr role chuck marr into beeb newsnight.

Nope, wrong again - MT was more than happy to be interviewed by Robin Day, and in one case in 1987,, he couldn't get a word in for nearly seven minutes.

In fact, when he died, the Telegraph reported
Quote:

Lady Thatcher described him as fierce but fair. She said: "Sir Robin almost single-handedly pioneered modern political interviewing and he excelled at it.

Our paths often crossed and I always enjoyed the joust. He was tough and relentless, but he was also fair, witty, and gracious."

no not thinking robin day not sure she refused interviews but some mp's did. The other one he was right obnotious interviewer but cant think of his name think he was on itv not sure.

He was very good kept repeating questions he had many mp's in mess. In the end I believe Mp's started to refuse to go on his show calling him rude bully.

If I wrong then sorry like said mind all swiss cheese new one walked out once new there was very bad grilling of leader.

I probably mixed it all up with my head in mess with memories.

Just remembered his name crazy just popped in there Brian Walden.he was ex MP new the tricks how to evade questions.

Wish we had more Walden's, robin days we might get to the bottom of lot of stuff.

May not even needed leverson good grilling from these 2 would hit the bottom of it.

Interesting definition of Wise, and possibly legal He publicly stated he was in favour of the bid before he was put in charge of it, and showed a personal relationship (by swapping all the texts) with the people in charge of a company he is supposed to have made an impartial decision over.

David Cameron is apparently just as "wise" by publicly supporting a man who could drag his government under.

I think Sheridan has burnt his bridges no matter what happens with Coulson, in terms of any political aspirations.

If it is unsafe then his conviction should be quashed.... simples ;)

He's a bit like Marmite; some people do love him. I'm not one of them but in his defence he's very good for the economy. I have it on good authority that over 300,000 people were made redundant during Sheridan's vacation at her Majesty's pleasure. Some from News Corp but mainly from Sun bed Salons :D
