Like it or not, football is the dominant sport in the UK. ESPN shows a lot of it because it's popular and available. They're adding Guinness Premiership rugby starting with the 2010/11 season, but aside from that there's no rugby available to them. The only cricket that was available to them was the IPL, but they quite rightly passed on that. All major tennis and golf tournaments are spoken for as well.

Yes, some smaller motor sport events are available, but ESPN are after the big motor sport events, which are currently spoken for. You may enjoy some of the smaller motor sport events, but a subscription based channel like ESPN will never find those events to be a viable option, which is why Eurosport, which even as a FTA channel pulls in fairly low ratings, snaps up these events.

Everything happens for a good reason, even if it isn't obvious. Lots of network changes are happening at the moment (see this thread!) and sometimes STB reboots are needed at the same time. The reboots are done in the dead of night to impact the fewest people.

I know the interruptions are a pain but you'll benefit from improved services in the long run.

Is there anyway we can see these tests by adding them like you can do on a Sky Box.

I hope your right!! those cheesy Aussie grins were stomach churning enough in SD just imagine it in HD, aaarrgh.;)
The only plus I can see is Kylie's perfect bottom in HD, who knows this could have been the real reason for filming in HD in the first place.;)

Because the Manchester area is too big to do in one night.

Last night Stoke, Macclesfield, Runcorn and Warrington were done.

I wondered what was going on last night, I was watching a recording when this black box come in view, saying something about an update and taking 20 mins and not to do anything with the unit untill complete.

I didnt know if I could even turn the volume up :D,

---------- Post added at 08:18 ---------- Previous post was at 08:14 ----------

Forgot to mention that after the update my screen was showing black bars down each side as if the broadcast format had changed ???

So what will people benifit from this move over to NGTV? The only info i've seen about it is the fact that the channel line up will be the same across all regions.
