Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2009)
Sky and VM are in 'active negotiations' over getting Living HD on Sky platform - makes sense to me... VM for once have some leverage. They may be able to negotiate a HD like for like "swap" ... maybe Sky One HD on the XL package???

4. Unless sky negetoite a price for living hd before it launches it will be a virign exculsive and that will be a good thing for virign to use. |
Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2009)
Thats one big swap Andrew LOL ;)
I think myself it will more likely be Sky 1 HD. Not sure Living is leverage for Sport ore Movies. Hell (or Ofcom) will freeze over B4 we get that. |

To be honest i think they will try get the sports an sky one the movies they can easily claim they have film flex which is better (i say that what they will claim not wha ti say) |
Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2009)
With a deal for living HD we'll see Sky one HD and the other Sky basics HD channels coming the same way at most. There is zero chance that VM could get Sports or Movies from offering Living HD, Sky would just laugh at them if they went to the table asking for them (and rightly so).

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2009)
Sky ONeHD would be very cool for the last series of Lost... apart form the odd Simpsons episode i don't really watch Sky 1.
Still hoping for Eurosport HD myself... just think on the VM headlines "SPORT IN HD ON VIRGIN MEDIA" It would make a lot of sense... |

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2009)
not sure how much leverage VM will have with Living HD. As we know from the past deals VM have to get their channels on Sky for the advertising revenue and reach. They can't really afford to play hard ball and lose out on viewers, even Sky found this out when their channels weren't available to VM and htey have a lower subscriber account than Sky

A HD channel gives you limited extra ad revenue, the adverts are the same regardless of if it's SD or HD, and if a HD channel isn't on the platform then viewers will be seeing the same ads on the SD version instead. There's very few people that will only watch HD to make any sort of increase in the ad revenue a channel generates. |
Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2009)
I was just checking if there were any channels testing (there wasn't btw) and there is a channel number 510 called Security Fraud Information, it's provisioned but you can't view it if you type the number in on the EPG. Does anyone know what this is?

Living TV will not be a VM exlusive as far as I know. |
Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2009)
What a joke the four announced channels are :(
Why are people defending VM's HD offering by suggesting that atleast they have brought some channels and that they are popular to a lot of people!? Err no. They really aren't. The priority channels are clearly things like: Terrestrial 1 - 5 and associated channels Eurosport 1 Eurosport 2 Discovery HD channels Even some music/film/sky 1 - 3 channels/bravo etc would have been better than the tripe they are getting first. I agree it is embarrasing and should have waited until they had atleast ONE decent channel to headline them with. I'm off to get excited about watching the food channel in HD. Yay. |
