First BBQ of the year. Cooked roasted cod and garlic for the missus and enjoyed chicken thighs with bockwurst sausages for myself and Osem Jnr #2 served in tortilla wraps... :)

Osem Jnr # 2 just had a seizure and it's completely changed his mood. He'd been very noisy and moody for the last few days and now he's calmed right down and is being so cute and chilled. It's certainly not much fun but every time it happens it reminds us how vulnerable he is and how much he means to us. :)

Osem I'm pleased that Osem Jnr#2 is back to being his usual cute and chilled self, I'm just sorry that he has to deal with all his health problems and seizures that must be very scary and upsetting for all involved.

Hugs and best wishes to all your family Osem.

Cheers guys. :hugs:

Yes he's fine now although due another seizure as they usually come in pairs a few days apart. Being 6ft2ins and as strong as an ox, it's all the more difficult to accept when he's suddenly struck down and rendered totally helpless without warning.

Sadly Taf if people have long term conditions but have not seen their consultant for many many years they are at quite a disadvantage from what l have learnt from people in the know as l see my consultant several times a year plus l see a local heart nurse every few months as well so their clear and up to date medical evidence and strong written support was extremely crucial in the award that l was given as l have long term conditions requiring daily care and assistance that will never get better but will worsen gradually but l know for many others its a different story altogether sadly going through the PIP process as l know many who have encountered considerable problems trying to claim PIP sadly.

Although I can symapathise with your situation greatly we know of quite a few who're better off and that'd include Osem Jnr #2 who's mental disabilities weren't considered an issue under DLA. I hope you get a good result Taf but do get some expert opinion to back up your claim. :tu:

Therein lies the main problem I feel. The lack of supporting evidence which is now a major issue for some people who are genuine but for various reasons don't have the supporting evidence. Getting that evidence is crucial!

Anyway Den, it's great that you got the right result and all the worrying in the world wouldn't have changed to outcome.

We had a staff meeting to day.

They are changing our hours, but you can opt out.

Basically every 2 week we will work an hour longer every Mon to Wed, and one Thursday. (7:30am start :erm:)

The result is we get every other Friday off, which mean about 20 extra days off.

Then they are changing our holidays to hours rather than days.

Found my old, barely used, JVC miniDV video camera earlier. It'd been sat forgotten in the back of the sideboard for quite a while and I'd wondered if it would still work as the battery must have been as flat as a pancake for several years. Anyway I plugged it in not expecting very much to happen and it charged fine. Then on powering it up I found a tape inside which showed the last time it had been used which turned out to be 2009!!!! A very nice recording of one of Osem Jnr's many pre-black belt karate gradings. My word how time flies! :)

Osem Jnr # 2 made us laugh the other day when mum was loading the washing machine in the morning ready for it to wash over night as usual and hang out the next day, which is his little job around the home. He helped her put the detergent in and carefully shut the door then disappeared, came back with the washing basket and proceeded to open the machine to take it all out. Evidently he thought you just pop the dirty washing in, close the door and it's done. If only things were as simple as they are in his world... :)

There's been quite a few big 'orrible ones buzzing around the eaves and coming into the open bedroom windows in the morning and mid afternoons over the past few days. This time of year they're probably queens looking for somewhere to build if they haven't started already.

Better to sort the problem out now than later in the year when they're most angry.

I think it's great that Osem Jnr # 2 helps out his Mum Osem. I have said it before and I'm saying it again what a lovely young man you have there. My eldest leaves everything on the floor from the bathroom to his bedroom there is a trail of dirty washing whereas my youngest is a clean freak like me.

After a couple of days off from it all, I've finally hacked off the last of the bathroom tiles and adhesive.
The walls aren't too bad but there's a little filling to be done and then hopefully I can get on with the tiling next week. :)

We went to see our friend this afternoon in hospital and they are planning for him to go home soon where nurses will come in several times a day to give him palliative care as his wish was to pass away in his own home surrounded by loved ones.

If the option exists I think this is the best way.

Indeed the two options were to be at home or to go to a hospice but the hospice scenario is very unlikely now heero.

It's the best option for everyone usually, best of luck to him

I've just had my delivery of 300 400mm x 250mm tiles for my bathroom/toilet project. Thankfully they're as nice as they looked on the website and having laid a box full out on the floor, I was relieved that the overall quality seems very good so far (consistent shading, regular tile size etc). They all come from the same batch too which is a relief lol.

Right now I'm glad I went for much larger tiles than the 200mm x 150mm ones they're replacing because it'll mean a lot less grouting to have to apply and maintain. IT's amazing to think that the 300 new tiles will cover the same area as 1000 of the old ones. :eeek:

Our holly bush has been purposely allowed to grow a bit wild this year (it's a good 15ft high now) and the honey bees and bumble bees are loving the flowers. The garden is buzzing with them, literally.

Going to visit my Mum in 20 minutes, then Dad will come to our house for dinner that way I know he is fed and watered as I do not trust him with his eating as he would live on toast honestly he would, as my father has said in the past that he cannot be bothered making a meal for one but he needs to keep his strength up.

We're going over to an old school friend's 60th birthday bash tomorrow. It's a surprise but his missus has hired Newhaven Fort for the day!! :Yikes:

Actually I think it's only part where they hold functions but should be a good day out.

I hope so Den - even though the results are satisfying, it's a big job and not one I want to repeat any time soon. :erm:

I've done about 1/3 of the bathroom, then there's the toilet to strip and re-tile but that'll be a much easier job. I must say that the electric tile cutter I bought has been so well worth it. Probably the best £30 I've ever spent. :)

What a confident young lady you have there Hom3r, my friend took years to say who she really was and when she told me I simply hugged her and said I know but you needed say to me when the time was right for you, sadly she was met with some very negative reaction from the one person who she thought would support her, her brother he said some really nasty things to her that can never be forgotten. I'm pleased to say that my friend is now a confident lady and is now proud to say who she is.

My happy thought is my family and what a unit I have. Hubby will do the evening hospital runs with me the only nights he can't do is Tuesday's and Thursday's, my son and his fiancée will pick my youngest up from school between them till my Mum gets home. I do not think they realise the pressure this has taken off me.

It times like these that I burst with pride at just how much love we have within our household :)

weenie, you certainly have a family to be proud of and I so happy that yours are supporting you and taking some of the weight from your shoulders.

Families sometimes have the odd bad apple despite good parenting but kind and thoughtful children such as yours are always the product of kind and thoughtful parents.

<hugs>

Her brother's not bothered, she still be his big sister.

Her dad not so well, but he'll be ok.

Her mum (my sister) is perfectly OK as she had suspicions. Then said "At least I won't have to worry about her getting pregnant."

I don't know if this a phase she's going through or what, but I'll back her 100%, and still stand by her.

Yes for every cyber-nutter/social media troll there are very many more decent, fair minded people who sadly just don't get noticed.
