Likewise I find FTP is much faster from NTL than from others. No surprise.

until you reach the 75gig cap...........

£50 pound lol,if ntl are saying you should have up to a 10 meg connection and there modem is not up to it, its up to them to give you a modem that will do the job, thats why im getting mine for free ;)

Threating to cancel my TV, phone and broadband worked for, where as no other lesser threats did. If you do end up going down this route then make sure your put through to ntl's Customer Retention Dept, they seem to have the authority to authorise a free install/upgrade on the spot.

I get a modem installed today in theory. However, I wouldn't be surprised if I get a phone call at 5.30pm from the engineer telling me that they've got a puncture and will have to reschudule for another day. Happened twice already in the past 3 years when I've been waiting for an Engineer to come out. i just hope things have improved.

just call CS and say your modem keeps powering off on its own every hour or so ... told my next door neighbour to do that, engineer came, just swapped the modem and went, didnt check anything ... got one of them new 250's i think it is

Mine seems to be working fine now :) not always getting 10mb service but as it says in the description up to 10mb.

I have also worked out that windows tcp half open connections settings are over-ridden after a recent windows patch so you might want to change it again ;)

Does anyone have the 10mb service in the Port Talbot area and if so what kind of speeds are you getting?

Just phoned up CS now and got a nice guy called Matthew who talked to a supervisor about getting our Terayon modem swapped to a NTL250 without paying the £50 charge. He sorted it and we have an engi coming out tomorrow afternoon to swap it :)

Nice one NTL

God help you. The NTL:250 has been such crap here that I'm about to get it swapped for my old 3COM CMX. I'll have "2Mb working" over "10Mb bust" any day.
