Been given a tasty rumour today i think 20% chance of it happening though, according to my rumour source (a new one) BT and NBC will team up at the next bidding session for both premiership and football league rights.
NBC do hold premier league rights in the USA so i'm going to be following this rumour closely and will ofcourse update with anymore info i get.

Nat Geo Wild HD - TESTING NOW ON VIRGIN MEDIA USING REAL NAME.

plus

HISTORY HD
Disney Channel HD
CI HD

But can't make up our mind on the other up to 5 channels that may also launch.

We have only get 5 ideas from the following list:

http://mediaboyblog.blogspot.co.uk/2...ay-launch.html

Those 3 in bold are exactly the same ones i have been given and ofcourse natgeo wild hd which i mentioned ages ago it was coming.
The 5 i am still convinced they are regional channels i can't think of any others unless they may be spiketv and trutv and mtv classics, i'll dig around see if i can find anything out.
Spiketv seems unlikely though unless Viacom and vm have reached a agreement.

Thanks Dilli, that's one job done to get rid of him.

By regional channels, do you mean Local TV or regional variants of, say, BBC1 or ITV?

Wow this is very interesting...If they do team up, would it just mean Sky paying more and then we will get another Sky Sports increase?

But its definitely worth watching and seeing what happens

It'll be interesting i think nbc and bt together would out bid sky easily, i really hope silly money isn't paid though as it's getting stupid now.

Maybe BT could get some of the games and NBC the rest? Cutting Sky out would put the cat amongst the pigeons and may result in some unexpected benefits in the longer term.

Yeah because that will really help , aren't we already paying well over the odds now for Sky Sports and BT Sports owing to fierce rivalry.

Another bumper payday for footballers the only change being then we now pay BT for the majority.

Thankfully my pay TV days will be long over by then.

Prices will go up anyway with Sky on the scene.

However, if Sky were forced out of the premierships, and decided to focus on something other than sport for its principal offering, maybe we would see some common sense coming through on bids and prices in the longer term.

It won't happen this time around, though, it's true.

Football League rights have just recently been extended to 2019 so there may be a bit of waiting on that one.

Yes most sports rights have been tied up by Sky until the end of this decade now.

Sky are already fleecing us with constant rises and BT are set to reportedly start charging for champions league , for somebody to take the football from Sky requires them to pay more which means even more money to recoup.

NBC will never buy UK sports rights in my opinion even ESPN owned by Disney soon retreated out of the fierce UK market.
