Just to say though, that there are systems in place to advise both sales and customer service agents as to whether it's been enabled in an area or not.

M33 3 area.

I had the discussion in respect of this, they seemed to say its ok for my area.

As far as I can see that postcode area is still a maximum of 200Mb

Any idea when its likely to be ready for 300Mb?

Ben - Would I be right in thinking an area still on 8 downstreams wouldn't be ready for it?

Yes, I believe 16 downstreams are needed before the area is enabled for 300Mb.

Thanks for confirming, this is a good way for users to check if their area is ready before wasting time / money getting VM to provision it.

I have and always will be one for getting as much speed as possible because that's what i love, if the price is right at least.

Thanks for the screenshots. I am seriously temped but would have to let my FTTC run out first. Both is not really viable because I don't need both.

But when it's out in July - happy days possibly.

I've only had 300 now for 2 and a bit weeks but i have downloaded 2.71TBs and uploaded 380 gigs so far.

Is there any traffic shaping on the upload?

I don't seem to be able to upload enough if there is one, even when maxing out the 21 up for 2 hours i don't seem to run into anything.

Hi,

I currently live in a congested area. I'm guessing that upgrading to Homeworks wouldn't help me?

Thanks

Ben,

When checking if you have 8 or 16 downstreams on SH3 under tools/network status mine lists 9 downstream bonded channels.

Is that the right place to be looking???

Correct, there's no kind of priority system in place for higher tiers, you'll get congested all the same. If you get 50mbit on a 100mbit connection, you'll get 50mbit on a 300mbit connection.

Firstly, despite what was said earlier, just having 16 channels doesn't necessarily mean your area is ready for the upgrade, though if you've only got 8 it's definitely not.

Secondly, 9 is an unusual number, you should see 8, 12 or 16. Having only 9 implies you have a possible fault (though 9 is plenty of 200Mbit), I'd be interested in seeing what a reboot does and what your power levels are.
