i think it is a case of the people up in management had a date set and because things slipped early on in their schedule they dont want to change their plans.

They probably only bought x amount of sh2s as they knew they were moving to the sh3 but used more than they predicted leaving the sh3 as the only option

I'm not finding the UI to be too problematic, but I am using it in modem mode. It takes a few minutes to load up, but when it does it seems quite nippy.

Cynical part of me is certain that money will be the reason why. Either, as you said, they just didn't budget enough SH2s, or they wanted to role out as many SH3's as possible so they can upsell people when the next speed tier gets launched (or if history is anything to go by, the support contracts on the SH/SH2 are expiring and they're being forced to pay per device for continued support).

Makes sense to have as many people on "future proof" (16+ channels) as possible I suppose.

I'm still running in router mode, hoping this next firmware update will make a big difference. If not, I'll be looking for a router to go with it and stick it in modem mode

Just had VM cable installed today and questioned the installer on the modem as I hadn't looked that far into it and was expecting a black Super Hub as pictured on their site. Looks like I've got the SH3 White modem as shown in the first post of this forum post.
Installer said this was a new modem and they where told to fit them to all new installs to trial them. He didn't know too much about it.

Seems ok so far but has only been a few hours.

Just done the update from 152Meg to 200Meg and they sent me the SuperHub 2. So they must still have some left.
Wont complain though as the speed test are up there in the 200Meg

Hi, it just says it's the Super Hub 2.....What are the differences between the SB2 and the SB 2AC ?

One has ac wireless, the other doesn't.

Thanks for the info...good job I don't have anything that needs the new standard. The only thing I use wireless is my iPad and laptop. Main PC, Xbox etc is Ethernet.

You can't get the Hub 3.0 as an existing customer at present.

Reading all the posts on here and elsewhere discussing its current issues why would you want to right now? Just for a new shiny thing?

I'd prefer a 2AC over this right now, I'm sure once the firmware is worked out it'll be good, but right now it's a bit of a pain.
