Mine is going up by 9.37%. Only take TV so going from £32 to £35! Ridiculous. If there was an alternative, I'd tell them where to stick their V+ box.

I'd give VM a phone - I'm sure you'd be able to get that down

Currently TV XL with a V HD box is on the website at £26 by itself.

Got my letter through, £5.75 increase. On premiere collection with phone upgraded to XL. Also paid line rental saver in August so technically the £1 line rental increase is irrelevant for now. Not overly happy about this but I'm mid contract and don't want to leave VM.

I had letter quoting same increase, so I rang retentions so explain that I had line rental saver to November, lady offered £5 pm discount until line rental saver renewal, which will now be end of contract. Since the £5.75 includes £1 line rental (not applicable in my case until Nov), this is a saving.

I have always found that VM are ready to consider helping customers when I have approached them. Just be calm and explain your situation and they are usually helpful.

Why should he have to phone ? Vm are robbing him by the sounds of it.

Presumably many others, in the silent majority who never question these things, are being ripped off too.

Contacted retentions who claim nothing can be done as I have a loyalty discount and if they remove that my charges will be higher so put cancellation in hoping they call me before the month notice.

Before I do, can anyone suggest if what I pay is fair/high/low?

With the price increase I will be getting for £68.24
2 TiVO with XL (HD)
120MB broadband
Weekend calls.

Got a call from retentions today. (Checked previous calls and they tried while out the last two days too since I cancelled).

Played a bit of hardball and got the next 12 months for £62.49 (same price I pay now) and £10 off for the next 4 months. Quite pleased with that!

Re: 6.7% Price Increase From February!

We got our price rise notification yesterday, increasing by £3.25 to £50.74 from £47.49 for 120Mb and phone. We don't pay by direct debit so that includes the £5 fee.

I got my mum, as the account holder, to call them up and see about dropping the phone, they said we could do that and pay £42.99 a month (including the non DD charge) but then said we could pay £35.99/mo for the same service, £40.99 including the non DD charge. mum accepted it and I was worried for a while as the details didn't come to light until I got an email with the changes, I thought £35.99 sounded way too cheap. it appears it includes a loyalty discount of £8 off for 18 months.

Anyhow the price does not appear to include the feb price rises (phone line is quoted as £14.99 on the receipt) so I'm sure the package will still go up by £3 or something but it's still a great price and worth being in contract again.

If you're still under contract, can you cancel without penalties because of the price increase?

Just called VM and it's true! Bye bye TVXL after four months of total garbage TV.

I have also received the letter of the £3 increase. But it does not state which service is causing the price increase? Previously price increases stated which service had risen, so does this price increase effect all services?

Because Virgin Media now sell services as bundles, so the price increases as quoted as a total increase.

Smoke and mirrors more likely to try and stop people from working out the true cost of individual services increasing.

There's a breakdown of the prices on individual services here: -

http://recombu.com/digital/news/virg...se_M12444.html

Most are facing increases of a lot greater than 6.7% (which is just the increase in line rental - don't know how they've got away with peddling this figure as the 'average rise' ).

As I've already explained, some bundles have a lower increase than they could have done if it they followed the change on the system codes - VIP Collection for one.

Others, like the Customer Relation bundles, have a greater price increase that they would have done based on pure component product price change.

This is because the prices is a bundle on top of line rental, not per product.

Re: 6.7% Price Increase From February!

When it comes to price increases, all I ever ask is to be at least on the same price as a new customer would pay. I may be wrong but I don't believe VM do this, I appreciate prices go up every year and can accept this within reason but why there are so many different prices I'll never understand

is telfordcable right 2 price increases in 4 months?

Maybe VM are preparing for a tory party win next election, as to counter labour's fixed energy bills the tories will freeze CP's :)

Nope - what did happen though is

1) Standalone broadband sold before around August/September had a price increase in October
2) When people phoned up to say they weren't happy, they got put onto the new sold prices that 'reversed' the increase.
3) The new prices are increasing to pretty much the same as the other standalone prices in February

So those people have had two price change letters (for both the October and Feburary change), but will only have one price change in February.

Anyone who didn't do anything about the October increase for standalone broadband, won't get another in Feburary.

Re: 6.7% Price Increase From February!

We received our price increase today of £5.10 and we were told that it covers the price coverage of BT Sport, which is supposed FREE, and extra HD channels that are in the pipeline.

Its another rip off by VM, instead of being honest with customers. They are doing it this way.

And its no good VM telling us that they are bringing more channels which is covered in the price, maybe they can improve the BB service that l get - absolutely terrible, so slow.
