No idea, but I sent a (late-ish) application to the trial, so fingers crossed.

there was no valid reason for trial? tell you the truth if they don't allow me in the trial of Superhub 2AC or Superhub 3 I don't care.
even if they do let me in the trial they might not even give the SH2AC to me for testing might have to get it from Retention again like last time.

I have no time for argument with thenry. just leave my flipping head alone.

Why on earth are they deploying equipment before it has been "tested"? Is this like a blind test?

Because staff have already tested it and it's a really small change from the standard SH2.

Interesting, especially as this isn't the first wave of testing either for the SH2 with ac?

I wonder why they opened it for more testing, especially if it's going out to new customers silently anyway. Intriguing, and I'm only slightly disappointed that I didn't get one with my install 6 weeks ago, heh.

Admittedly, I just want to try out this spangly new ac tech really, so aside from wanting to test the thing to death to report anything weird to VM, my motivations for applying were quite selfish.

That's kind of what I'm getting at - why bother testing it if you're already deploying it in the field?

Changing the wireless chip (and consequently, presumably, changing the wireless driver) isn't really a small change in the context of a wireless router, it has the potential to make or break everything and cause a huge headache. Even minor version updates to the same wireless drivers have been known to break things.

After all, the wireless driver(s) were the cause of most wireless related problems with the original Superhub.

It'll use the same wireless driver as already released kit under the Netgear brand. It's not a big deal.

Well, wasn't the Superhub 1 also just a rebranded CG3101D or something? AKA "already released kit under the Netgear brand"

Yes but with custom firmware (aka "bodged").
