How many of the 28 Hd channels that we have launched the same day as on sky? Is it the norm that it's staggered as it's been recently?

Hardly any.

ITV1HD and Five HD were launched on the same day as Sky and Living HD and Film 4 HD launched on Virgin exclusively

So the norm is that it launches on one platform first rather than both at same time. Thanks for info.

the norm is that they launch on Sky first then while VM are still thinking about asking if there is any chance of carrying the channels.

then after a long long wait VM may launch or may not dependong on how they feel.
only excptions to this was ITV HD, Five HD, living HD and film 4 HD (the last 2 were exclusive but Sky now own living HD).

Bit unfair that really don't forget it's always easier for Sky negotiating when you consider they have around 10 million subscribers .

its nothing to do with being unfair its about telling it as it is from a customers point of view without sugar coating anything.

we all know Sky are the biggest pay tv provider in the UK but VM are the 2nd and as such should be able to get deals done pretty easily but they just dont seem to do that.

sure its good to have all the HD for free but VM just dont seem to make headway with HD purely because they trickle the channels out and Sky keep marching on totally over shadowing anything VM do with HD.

just today Sky got Disney XD HD, last week ITV 2 HD, Nickelodeon HD and the week before EDEN HD and Living HD.
in 2 months we have had Comedy central HD and Sky HD. sure 2 channels in 2 months but SKY have added more in the last fortnight and more than double that in the last 4 weeks.

if i could get Sky i would in a shot purely for HD but i cant get permission to get a dish on my house form both landlord and council.

you call it unfair !!!
surely you mean unfair to customers who have to watch Sky get HD channels while VM seem to twiddle their thumbs and not get any further foreward as every step VM make with HD Sky move 5 further foreward making the gap wider overall.

Sky use there powers to make it hard for Virgin to add channels if you look at how many HD channels are Sky owned or part owned you would understand , Sky get HD channels so quick because the channel provider is desperate to get on there epg and reach 10 million customers plus they have deeper pockets.

Personally, most would rather VM took their time in negotiations to get the best deal for the customer. This means getting channels included in the XL pack at no extra cost.

Look at ESPN (incl HD) - some complained that VM didn't sign in days when Sky signed very quickly - VM got it all included in the XL pack as they played it right.

I don't mean to be rude to you personally, but you are the worst type of customer. You have no choice, but to only have VM for multi-channel tv and I'm sure there are people stuck with Sky and want VM.

You will never be happy unless you get the same choice as Sky and will always be critical regardless of what VM do. :2cents:

i have to agree sure its best to take your time an get the best deal you can but there is taking time to do that and then blatently just not doing nothing, im not saying thats what VM are doing but it seems that way when channels have been on Sky for months or even years (History HD and Nat Geo Wild for example) and we still have no sign of them ever coming to VM.

i also agree that i probably fit the stereotype of the worst possible customer but when you are stuck with no/very little choice sometimes you need to be vocal. i cant get Sky (as mentioned) there in no BT lines installed on my estate so BT is not an option and Freeview offers nothing much at all.

i get a good deal off VM for the package i get and have got a good loyalty discount but its still annoying that there is a lack of HD that i would love to have.

i know VM have added HD and there is probably more to come but it just seems to pale in comparison to Sky and maybe i notice it more as im not able to access it no matter how much i would like to.
