Even with them being blown throughout a game, people are still singing and you can still hear normal fan chants etc. It's not just random noises either, different sections play tunes and have call and response chants to the sounds of the vuvuzelas.

Its bad enough you rubbing it in that you're out there without you also saying the noises arent as annoying :D you should try sitting in front of our TV's :p:

To be honest, even if i did find the sound annoying, the sight of so many people enjoying it would probably be enough to put up with it.

During the opening match we made our way from a fan park in Johannesburg to a church hall, to get a more enjoyable view. The streets were virtually empty, apart from the sound of vuzuzelas in the distance and the sight of people literally gathered outside shops to view the TVs inside. It was like a scene from a cheesy film.

Glad I don't live in Somalia

Somali militants have threatened football fans they will be publicly flogged - or worse - if they are caught watching the World Cup on TV.

So far no one seems to have really shined.

The so called big guns seem to have loaded blanks.

The BBC has received 220 complaints and, while it is committed to reflecting the atmosphere in the stadiums on its main coverage, it is believed to be looking into providing a so-called "clean" feed that would strip out the majority of crowd noise, via the red button.
That doesn't solve the problem imo. The problem is that the constant drone drowns out the crowd noise (on tv at least), which makes the game rather sterile to look at. I want to hear the crowd gathering behind the teams and getting excited over what goes on at the pitch. The vuvuzela drowns out the ebb and flow of the crowd noise, and makes it really hard to get into the game. It's not even clear who the drone is for...

I really have no problem with them being blown copiously for SA games if that's what South Africans are into, but having a constant drone during Holland-Denmark for instance makes no sense at all.

It may be part of SA culture but it's def not a part of world footballing culture, crowd noise is all part of the game. I miss the boooo's and ahhhh's and different chants.

Stadium atmosphere is one thing but when one thing drowns everything else out then it gets a bit silly, maybe silencing is too much but surely reducing the level of the vuvuzelas a bit would be a start?

Re: the vuvuzelas'

they have just said on bbc breakfast that they can't really do much without losing other stadium sounds!
