Re: Football : Season 2009/2010
You're missing my point - it's not just the results but also the performances - we should have destroyed Birmingham on saturday. Burnley should have lost at least 2-nil. We have a team which is using players in their mid-30s alongside unproven talent. Granted when Rio and Vidic return our defence will be a lot better but up front we've only got one real proven goalscorer and SAF seems to think that's enough - well no it's not. Yes he's the most successful manager in the country but the faith he's put in donkey has not been repaid. Owen cannot be considered reliable yet. As I said earlier, if Rooney takes a long term hit then I'll be surprised if we finish in the top 2.

Re: Football : Season 2009/2010
the problem is we have too many mediocre players. We have too many players who are only good enough, or sometimes not good enough, to play against Hull and Birmingham and Fulham.
O'Shea had a great first season but has never once ever got close to playing like that ever again. He is rubbish in every position he plays and no where near good enough for us. Neither is Park and he's been with is for about 4 years. Nani and Ronaldo had similar first seasons. Give them a ball in training and they can do keepie uppies all day long but neither of them could pay well in the prem, delivery a decent ball into the box, beat a man etc . Ronaldo adapted and learnt what needs to be done, Nani is no where near having any idea how to play football |

And for people to question Ferguson?!? Your right he should be sacked, he hasn't got a clue, he's the last person that will bring success to the club. He should have been sacked way back, he got lucky with that Mark Robins goal, he should have gone then! |
Re: Football : Season 2009/2010
Here's a strange one, quitting football at 22 because he has fallen out of love with the game!!!!

The old Maine Road ground brings back happy memories as a member of the Liverpool Supporters Club in the 70s and 80s.We used to book ourselves into the Man City's Supporters club before and after the game and got on with each other we were like best friends no matter what the result was. :)

So can I Franny Lee :) My 1st visit to Maine Road would be in the middle 60's around the time of the 66 World cup. I had a relitive who lived about 2 or streets down from Maine Road so stayed overnight there sometimes.Just walked up a couple of alleyways and I was there. :D |

Maine Road really was a complete hotchpotch of a ground, what with no two sides looking anything remotely similar, but for some reason it just worked, i wish they could bottle a bit of the old atmosphere and ship it to the new(ish) stadium, i dunno but it seems a bit soulless to me at times as if somethings missing. Maybe it`s just me being picky  |
Re: Football : Season 2009/2010
I got free admission once at Maine Road handing out paper caps when Liverpool Played Man United in an FA Cup Semi Final it finished 2-2 and we lost the replay at Goodison. It was when the Greenhoff brothers played for United.I got rid of them as quick as I could and got as near the front as I could.
The only other time I got free admission to a game was at Neuchatal Xamax in a pre season friendly in Switzerland in the 80's a freebie off Bruce Grobbelaar. I'd like to know your fav player of all time Mine was Emlyn Hughes :) |
