Looks like it applies to all Google services, not just Chrome:

https://www.google.com/accounts/TOS?hl=en

See point 11.1

So it would apply to Gmail, and hopefully for foreverwar's sake, not Google Gears

Its open source so why not, Does not have to be goggle that writes the add ons

Had a quick try, decided to perhaps try again on spare PC when final version comes out. Opinions on here seem to vary from hot to very cool

Was loving it until earlier when it gave me a 'fatal error' Had to restart my PC and ever since then my PC won't restart, i have to switch it on/off from the button on the tower!

And it's made FF stop loading pages! I'm uninstalling right now.

Reading that article and the comments brings up an interesting point. They seem to be trying to use the license to give themselves carte blanche to break every form of copyright under the sun and blame it on someone else.

They've essentially ruled it out of all commercial and corporate environments - knowing some companies, down the level of it being a disciplinary offence to install it. I'll be interested to see how my employer (who does a lot of in-progress work via web browsers) views that I must admit - and currently the only exemption they have is Skype not being allowed because of P2P/security risks (apparently).

As I stated earlier, the Commercial and Education T&C's are different from the Consumer version. ;)

What's to stop someone else making one though?

They are going to change but it was based on confusion from people reading it:

http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post...change-it.html

The services applied to their actual sites and not stuff done though the browser. But basically, Google are not asking you for all your data
