@ Stuart you should try one, I sat and viewed cf for an hour this morning on it and it was fine, certainly better than any device that small.

Nope. It runs up a data bill even if no data services are used, like people using it as an iPod.

thats why you need to turn off data roaming, otherwise it will check e-mails and stuff. I don't think it uses data if its turned off and you do not request any?

Can't comment on the psp as not used the internet on one. but it is not as fast as a desktop but not as slow as a pda. Certainly it is different in a good way.

I tried the ipod touch, which uses the same version of Safari. The zooming didn't add anything to the experience.

Cool, enjoy surfing the internet on your n95 or whatever then.

What is better than it for browsing on a handheld?

Well, I have an MDA at the moment (which I did say in the post above). Browsing using Opera (or Minimo when I could get it working) works better, in my opinion.

I have to admit the zooming and moving of the page making browsing on the iPhone really nice. But each to their own

It doesn't if its turned off, but that's not what I said. If its on and you don't connect to the net in anyway, the iPhone still will and bill you for it.

Given how some people in the US have been caught out, its always worth a mention.

Oh yes. It does. Checks your e-mails and maybe some other things...

Really?

I've found browsing on both the mda vario and the xda's to be a last resort where as the iphone is so much easier.

I've found that it is quicker to double tap to zoom a seqment of web page (perhaps even rotating the iphone for an extra zoom in) then double tapping to get the whole web page again a bit faster than pinch zooming and scrolling then pinch zooming out again.

At over £30 a qtr I told them to go shove it. I guess they have been told that they are making zip all on the handsets and to upsell like mad which is the impression I got at CPW.

If it was £5 a month I might have had a shot at it at least for the first 3 months.

It will cost quite a bit to replace, that's the problem. I might insure it but not sure where. Maybe O2's insurance

Using Internet Explorer, I take it.

Not saying Safari is a bad browser, it's just I didn't find the zooming thing as much of a revolution as everyone is claiming.
