Well lets see what transpires shall we.

The sun is shining and I'm sick off the election..So I'm going to get on with life...

I'm sitting pretty at the mo..there is a shortfall of about 34,000 teachers across the country...very good news for a supply teacher. ;)

Not so good for our children however.

Where I live, North Belfast, has just been won by Dodds of the DUP with 45.6%. Kelly of SF was 2nd with 28.6%, Maginness of the SDLP was 3rd with 16.2 and Cobain of the UUP (who I voted for) was 4th with 7.1%.

The UUP are getting absolutely minced all over - the barking mad DUP and SF seem to be splitting it between them, which will help peace no end. Ian Paisley thinks he's in a war, senile old fool, wittering on about Gerry Adams' beard. Whenever I start feeling disillusioned and apathetic about mainstream British politics I reflect that it could be worse - I could have the clowns they have in NI to choose from instead of, for the most part, decent human beings.

Just a thought... Now Galloway is MP for Bethnal Green... I wonder if he will drain the Hackney Marshes and wether Oona King will end up going through the wood chipper feet first. She is Jewish, I don't fancy her chances against him. :erm:

Good weather on Planet Punky today?

David Trimble's lost his seat, btw. UUP are definitely going through the wood chipper at the moment, down three seats. They used to matter, apparently.

Where does this wood chipper come from? Is this a new election term i havent heard of yet

Re: The Cable Forum Exit Poll

They do things differently in Northern Ireland, Damien.

UUP had 6 seats in 2001, they now have 1 (out of 18). That's a pretty poor showing by anyone's reckoning - share of the vote down 11%.

Re: The Cable Forum Exit Poll

Nah, I just wondered were the term 'wood chipper' suddenly appeared

Several instances of 'vote stealing' reported in our local paper. People turning up to vote and being told the had already voted by post. Apparently dear old John Humphreys and Mariella Frostrop suffered the same fate.:(

So, what happened to all the money that Labour alledgedly spent on education.?
Don't tell me, most of it went on administration.

I had a Victor Melldrew moment the other day when I read a report about special time allowances for people with dyslexia taking GCSE & A level exams.
It also transpires that if a pupils pet has died the day before an exam they are to be allowed a 1% increase in marks and if it dies on the day of the exam a 2% adjustment is to be allowed. That is just plain stupid.

While the pet thing is stupid, what is wrong with extra time allowances?

If I were some scrote's hamster I'd make myself very scarce if he had a tough maths exam coming up:

'hey, Mum, Hammie just accidentally brutally walked into the way of this fast-moving maths textbook'
'oh good, that'll be 2% on your mark then'

How much is it for a dead granny?
