what do we think will happen next year?

I'm hoping streaming services start to group together with special offers otherwise the rise of piracy Part 2 will continue

do we have a definitive list of FAST channels on Pluto TV? I assume thats where virgin media are getting their FAST channels from?

is our list of FAST channels on Pluto TV different to what people get in other countries for example?

I see that Virgin get their FAST Channels on other networks as well.

I mean Four Sky branded FAST Channels are testing right now in Virgin UK HQ.

FAST Channel very by country to country.

There was one but the channels change quite frequently and it would be a pain to keep it up to date. Virgin uses several providers for FAST channels, the Pluto ones are the ones not available on the V6 EPG. Pluto channels are different in other countries, America has significantly more channels than the UK for example.

Virgin Media EPG online listing has reveal That's TV 3 will NOT be coming back after Christmas

Virgin Media online listings says 'That's Golden Oldies' is set to broadcast from 8am - 3am then some Entertainment shows that are shown on That's TV 1 and That's TV 2.

https://virgintvgo.virginmedia.com/en/epg/initial

Are Virgin Media set to reuse Channel 296 again next month?

I'm hoping for a few things more than that

1) A 360-software update that stops all the complaints

2) Virgin Media make deals to include other streaming services into packages such as paramount, MAX etc.

3) Sky Atlantic (finally) and Sky realise if people on cable haven't moved to sky by now or subscribed to Now TV they aren't gonna now(!)

4) Yank channels such as CBS News, Fox News and PBS

5) Premier Sports heads to the XL Package with LA Liga TV etc

All pie in the sky i know and I've mentioned a lot of these over the last 15 odd years but still...

glass half full haha.

Merry christmas folks!

If you think about it Virgin Media DON'T need to do any prices rises until after 2027 as Virgin Media are saving paying TNT Sports UK about £5 per head (Rumour I did hear when BT Sports UHD was launched) as TNT Sports UK is no longer on XL Package.

But I am all for Premier Sports coming to XL Package.

1) isn’t going to happen because unless the 360 offers exactly the same as the V6, the usual suspects will always complain.

2) Virgin might offer ‘packages’ of streamers, but my guess is that these will be offers of the free ad-infested versions.

3) Sky Atlantic is becoming a spent force, and from 2026, all HBO material will be on Max. Negotiations for that are already underway.

4) and 5), good luck with them!

Re: Virgin TV (2024)

There is a CBS News 24/7 FAST channel on Pluto TV, at best that could get added to the EPG

No, it doesn't. We've been through this repeatedly. Yes, some features are similar, but others are missing.

Someone did a very useful list comparison fairly recently and posted it in one of the threads.

You missed the word ‘unless’ before you answered.

He means that you should read my post again. I didn’t say the 360 ‘offered the same as the V6,’ I said ‘unless the 360 offers the same as the V6, the usual suspects will continue to complain’.

I could have worded it better to avoid that confusion, sorry.

I understand now, thanks for explaining. Yes, I hadn't taken the 'unless' into account which changed what you were saying completely. It's funny how one word or punctuation can do this, for example 'shall we eat, father' means something completely different without the comma :D

It’s not necessarily they don’t like change, some people simply have different needs and requirements.

Why should they like it, change is not always good, esp if it removes fetures you use.

Very true as being a former DJ the earlier decades were so much more varied musically then they are now.

Very true. I watched the 1978 Christmas Day edition of Top of the Pops on BBC4 last night and knew every track and liked most of them.

Christmas day is a write off as far as conventional TV is concerned for me, at least the streamers have some decent stuff to watch.
Netflix have NFL so I'm sorted.lol

Thought they'd kept it going after it was axed as a special? when did that end?

The last one was in 2021.
They still do an end of year review, just not on Christmas Day (or BBC1) anymore.
This year its on BBC2, on December 27th.

UK Gold - better known as OFAH Channel. Same 3-4 programmes on continuous repeat.

That's TV, Rewind TV and Talking Pictures are super channels.

I wish that Virgin had Rewind TV.

Looks like Virgin want deals that cover both cable platform aswell as Stream unlike Sky where Rewind TV isn't on Sky Stream which is also a closed platform.

I think he's just trying to blame somebody else according to this. I doubt that losing a fiver a week would be enough to make someone change their craft material purchases, especially as they will have had a triple lock pension, something that non pensioners never had.

However, it’s been revealed that Hochanda had already sought urgent financial assistance in August, days after the Winter Fuel Allowance announcement had been made. The company was found to be insolvent and an attempt was made to sell the company and assets as a going concern.

Top bit of straw-clutching going on there to blame the Winter Fuel Allowance. Makes a change from blaming NI increases.

The company had problems well before the winter. Main challenge for the company must have been the long-term challenge from Internet shopping.

Hochanda Ltd / Hochanda Global Ltd did lose over £35m since launch in 2015 - Information from Company house.

Company was called Hochanda Ltd since 2015 to until 2019.

Create & Craft was took over by Hochanda n 2022.

True, but Rach’s budget was the final straw, no doubt.

Hochanda Global Ltd ran out of cash as the company had never made any money. It was found to be insolvent in August 2024.

The acquisition of Create and Craft in 2022 increased turnover but also increased losses. The founders quit in December 2023 and the new owners couldn't turn the business around.

As a bit of background, Hochanda Global Ltd itself acquired the assets of a company called Hochanda Ltd which had also gone to the wall.

any big contracts expiring next year with any tv companies?

Sky’s HBO contract comes to an end and these shows will be found on new streamer ‘Max’ from the beginning of 2026.

Good news for VM viewers because Sky will no longer keep these good dramas away from the Virgin platform. So we’ll no longer have to subscribe to NOW just to see the dramas that are exclusive to Sky Atlantic.

Max should be available on the Virgin platform from the start, and this will include Discovery+ material, also missing from Virgin currently.

Don’t expect anything great in respect of the TV channels. Any news will be about rebrandings, channel closures and shopping channels going HD - oh, and lots of those dreadful FAST channels that few people watch!

We'll save by not having to pay for Now TV, though I get plenty of good offers. Best Entertainment offer (for Sky Atlantic) £1 and the best for Sky Cinema was free!

Trouble is, we'll have to subscribe to HBO and I bet that it won't be available for £1 a month.

Having said that, HBO is the only streaming service that has remotely caught my interest.

The forthcoming shopping channel showcasing cruises is also something that I will find interesting and possibly useful if any can accommodate my disabilities.

I wonder if it could be a 1 January launch for the Sky FAST channels - it wouldn't be the first time Sky channels have been added on New Year's Day.

Max will most certainly be more expensive, but the real savings will come from no longer subscribing to the TV channels. If you decided to get Virgin Stream, all your content would be on the streamers (although I know that moving to streaming only is not something you are particularly fired up about)!

So, nothing to do with the mountain of debt they had built up over many years before axing the fuel allowance was even thought of... It was simply an unsustainable business plan and would have continued to be unsustainable even if the fuel allowance had been doubled.

I assume they'll still show HBO content on it but that content won't be exclusive to Sky anymore since it will also be available via the multi-platform HBO app.

Sky could of course decide to to keep some Comcast and Sky content exclusive to the Sky Atlantic channel.

Re: Virgin TV (2024)

Most of HBO back catalogue will gone in early 2026 same with Sky Comedy, only their 'existing franchise and their future series' will remain but not exclusive, new HBO shows e.g Lanterns and Harry Potter(and most likely other new Warner Bros TV series they own internationally) will be exclusive to Max, should have called the service Warner Max.

The plan seems to be invest in original programming, Sky will be saving money from 2026.

Yes, good point. The big question for me is whether the additional Sky content from Sky Studios will be compelling enough to make me want to subscribe. There is very little on Sky that we watch any more in our house.

‘The Day of the Jackal’ looks good, though.
