Having fun at my own expense since Hugh (and possibly others) would put me on the Russian side of the fence. Although not clear from the download failed in his post before this I suspect he will have a playful retort.

So we can expect Fox to end up dead then.

I don't think it'd be fair to speculate, however bureaucracy is being used to silence him and keep him off the ballot. Something considered an outrage in the west when it was Navalny, someone who had never scored more than about 12 per cent in any election he'd ever stood in.

It'd be hypocritical to silence Fox on this basis, IMHO.

So, someone leaving things to the last minute, and being too stupid to fill the forms in correctly, even when given a second chance, is "being silenced"?

You are literally comparing someone who couldn’t complete eligibility paperwork, and who received 47k votes out of 2.5 million in the previous election (the Greens got five times as many votes) with someone who was poisoned, imprisoned, and murdered - you really are jumping the shark…

It was the paperwork that kept Navalny off the ballot. Who knows where the slippery slope in this country, or the USA, ends.

The circumstances around Navalny's death is open to speculation and if he was murdered it's equally plausible someone trying to destabilise Russian domestic politics chose to do so.

The last time Lozza tried to get elected he got fewer votes than Count Binface. Why in holy hell would anyone consider him worth the effort to ‘silence’ him?

Whatever it is you’ve been smoking these past few days you really need to take a night off.

I think Laurence is, as is known in the trade, as a ' mentalist'.

Shame, his cousin Emilia is quite nice .

Oh come on half of it is having fun pointing out western hypocrisy. Nobody cares about Lozza, I agree, as few cared for Navalny. The Trump question is more pertinent but it has a thread of it's own.

No, Navalny was barred from running for office in the Presidential Elections because of a conviction in a made-up fraud case…

Is this the latest Fancy Bear line - intimating that Navalny was murdered by the CIA (whilst imprisoned in a Siberian Gulag) to destabilise Russian domestic politics?

You’re not just jumping the shark - that’s at least a double backflip fake bigspin…

Back on topic discussing Fox and his mayoral chances, isn’t part of it.

GB News is to cut 40 jobs as the opinionated broadcaster battles to stem losses.

Staff were informed of the cuts at a company-wide meeting on Friday afternoon following previous warnings that a restructuring would lead to some employees losing their jobs.

Bosses are offering up to two months’ salary and a possible payment in lieu of notice to any workers willing to take voluntary redundancy.

The cutbacks, which represent roughly 14pc of GB News’s workforce, come after the company revealed its losses ballooned to £42.2m last year.

GB News’s wage bill surged from £12.7m to £21.2m in 2023 as it splashed out on salaries for high-profile presenters such as Nigel Farage and Sir Jacob Rees-Mogg. Overall headcount jumped from 175 to 295 last year.

Angelos Frangopoulos, chief executive of GB News, has admitted the channel is facing challenges to stem its growing losses, saying it needed to find “smarter routes to sustainability and profit”.

Appearing in front of MPs last month, the GB News boss said: “We’re very confident about the future of being self-sufficient financially, but we have a lot of work to do.”

GB News has been rocked by an advertising boycott since its launch in 2021, forcing it to explore ways to diversify its revenues away from ads.

Ofcom looks set to act on GB News lack of impartiality.

Quote:

Ofcom has said it is considering a statutory sanction against GB News, after the channel was found to have broken due impartiality rules.

The broadcast regulator announced in February it was investigating a Q&A session which saw Prime Minister Rishi Sunak take questions from the public.

Ofcom had "no issue with this programme's editorial format in principle", it said in its ruling.

"It was incumbent on GB News, however, given the major matters under discussion, to ensure that an appropriately wide range of significant views was given due weight in the programme or in other clearly linked and timely programmes."

The regulator noted the Labour Party's positions and views were not included, and nor was there a reference to any future programme where they would be.

Ofcom concluded: "We found that an appropriately wide range of significant viewpoints was not presented and given due weight in this case.

"As a result, Rishi Sunak had a mostly uncontested platform to promote the policies and performance of his government in a period preceding a UK general election."
