Spurs were pretty naïve IMO especially defensively against the venerable old lady.

That loss was down to Poch. Even in the second half when the only job they had to do was not concede he had them playing a high line, he did nothing to combat the Juventus subs either.

Nothing like fiddling the figures Jim.

Julian 01-04-2018 17:37

Re: Season 2017/2018

Doing a bit of googling I came up with this:-

Quote:

In England the rules of the premier league say that attendance figures that are publicly reported should be the number of tickets that are issued or sold. Not the number of people who actually attend. (I understand the football league rules say the same, although I couldn’t find the precise clause.)
From THIS ARTICLE

It is a couple of years old but it may still apply......

iadom 01-04-2018 17:56

Re: Season 2017/2018

That is a complete contradiction, how can they state that the 'attendance figures' can be anything other than those who actually ATTEND.

If they want to do that they should call it the seats sold figure, not attendance figure.

I agree Jim.

I had a brief trawl through the Premier League handbook and couldn't find the rule that the article refers to, indeed I did find "Form 11" Which clubs have to complete after each fixture. That requires them to report to the PL the number of tickets sold AND the actual number attending.

I guess the important bit is PUBLICLY....

Can't say we've ever had that problem in Newcastle. Not to blow our own trumpet.

Think we all but sealed our premier league survival yesterday. Hopefully that will allow Staveley to push ahead with a takeover in May or it remains to be seen if other parties want to take a pop at it. Can't see Benitez signing on again without the takeover. He'll run his last year out next season.

It would be sad to see Rafa go after next season if that is the case as they might not get a manager thereafter of his calibre.

Just dragging the topic back. It made me wonder how we totted up attendance figures back before the now common standard of scanned ticket turnstiles. I believe Liverpool are actually the best attacking force in the league. Absolutely ruthless when they throw the kitchen sink. Just not the best all round team. They've once again caught City swinging their tails about by hitting them with sheer brute force yet again. The famous Pep got done twice by the same thing.

An away goal at the Etihad kills this dead. Its still a big ask regardless for City to get back into this game.

Would love Liverpool to win but Real are rampant once again for the hat-trick of wins. I still think Liverpool going forward will shell shock both Real and Barca.

Re: Season 2017/2018

Milner is a great utility player but he's no Pep player. Pep is getting there. He's got the league locked down and i think they'll only come back even stronger next year, heading towards a Barca style year for City where they run wild in all competitions. I can't think of any other team still in I'd want to win it more than Liverpool though. Be typical of a club with no Premier League title to their name.

Nice to know that the so called biggest club in England wants to unload some of its players to its biggest rivals.;):D

Nice to know you can’t be bothered to actually read the article properly.

We all know just what bottom feeders most agents are, just puzzled as to what Pep thought he would gain by announcing such non news. :(

Shocking clearance from De Gea, but you could ask where City’s defence was just then as well. ;)

Is Martin Atkinson the new Howard Webb.:)

Sterling should have won that on his own.

Still, an enjoyable outcome.

Not a single home win in the Premiership today.

Good result for Newcastle which also helps my mates team Burnley in their quest for European football.

Gutted by Portsmouth’s last minute equaliser at Rochdale though.:(

Its getting more difficult to win at home as many teams park the bus when they go away.

Newcastle takeover talks restart. Kinda expected this as I've previously posted but I'm still pretty happy about it. PCP are submitting plans to redevelop the training ground, extension for Benitez and a huge transfer budget for the summer.

One thing is for certain, there will never be huge swathes of empty seats at Toon like there are just now at the Emirates. :(
