Re: Coming Soon to Virgin Media TV (2016)
Oh dear, glad I ditched VM TV
|
Re: Coming Soon to Virgin Media TV (2016)
Pathetic isn't it.
I'm definitely leaving XL to get the cost back down, the only other packs worth having for me are M and M+. Is it still the case that you can still view recordings made before the downgrade (apart from Sky channels)? |

There are some mentioned already in this thread before and one or two of them would be nice.;)

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin Media TV (2016)
I ditched xl tv about two weeks ago, tbh I haven't missed a thing, kept my BB and my Home phone, and my bill has dropped nearly 40 quid!. I was out of contract so managed to get quite a good deal.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin Media TV (2016)
As soon as the head of acquisitions get back to Britain, we all write him negative mail to persuade him to launch some decent channels. If we are not getting the Red Button streams for the Olympics, that could mean more channels.
|
Re: Coming Soon to Virgin Media TV (2016)
According to this there will be no repeat of the BBC having up to 24 channels of Olympic sport in cable and satellite homes this summer.

But I personally think it's likely that as internet connected devices are much more widely available then they were 4 years ago, that the iPlayer / BBC Sport apps will be where the content will be found as they can access the online streams that the BBC have said they will do |

With regard to the statement "Alongside its coverage on TV and radio and an expanded digital offering through its interactive red button service, each individual sport will be streamed online." I wonder how extensive the enhanced red button service will be and how this fits with the iPlayer? |

It's not that the BBC don't want to do Sport, it's that the costs involved in buying commercial Sports rights are going up to a point where the BBC can't compete.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin Media TV (2016)
And also that their overall budget has been cut severely does not help either..

Given that VM added Netflix, and didn't see it as a conflict, I think the same applies to Prime, so not to be dismissed IMHO. For those who would want to use it often, I'd still buy a Fire TV/Stick or Roku to view it on, rather than the current Tivo. |

Or is it to much of a competing service to their own offerings , the box currently has Vevo and Youtube with other online video. Will the Amazon Prime app be the same as the version available on all other connected devices with a PPV offering. |

Watched a couple of shows on hay.u app. Not really the content I would go for, but the picture quality is great. 1080p like Netflix is. No buffer or stuttering either.

This is available on BTtv too so wouldn't be surprised to see VM get this in the near future if it isn't already there. I still stand by what i said though i think what i was told about Wuaki was a wind up not because vm would block it but because it may be seen as a conflict with the movie ppv service already on VM. Netflix and Curzon don't offer the latest movies to rent (curzon does offer movies to rent but movies unheard off). Wuaki and Amazon video do offer latest movies to rent this is why for now i see vm not wanting them due to a conflict of interest in the movie rental system vm already have in place. EDIT: Something i think we will see VM start to do possibly in the next 2 years is introduce a buy and keep option where you can purchase movies or shows and download them to your set top box or computer, i think this may be introduced shortly after the new Tivo is launched. |

I do think we are likely to have wifi on TiVo to connect other TiVo. But looking into TiVo models they seems to be down the route like sky q of one box and then steaming content via wifi to other boxes and seems to match rumoured pic and matches colour of superhub

The problem for BT is that it's hampered by its own network.
|
Re: Coming Soon to Virgin Media TV (2016)
BT seems to have the same habit as Sky in that it seems to throw money at things like confetti but the difference is Sky always seem several steps ahead of them at many many levels.
