Very poor all round today, but apart from Herrera it is the same bunch as last year so nothing we didn't already know about.

Hernandez is not a 90 minute player and him and Rooney get in each others way, Fletcher is past it, Nani is useless, the back three are inept and have not improved although Blackett looks a decent prospect.

Rooney worked hard as did Mata and Januzaj was good at times.

De Gea was uncertain and looked as though he didn't know what was going on a lot of the time.

At least LVG now knows the real extent of the problems now.

And they have put the match day programme up 50p. :(

Pretty poor from Arsenal. I was losing my mind towards the end with the lack of creativity and sloppy passing. Still got the win which was needed but the performance needs to improve.

Transfer business needs to be tied up ASAP so everyone can knuckle down. there are flaws in the tactics. its been showing for ages, the square peg round hole position outwide is of concern but tactically its needed because of that all important battle in midfield.

Even Moyes beat Swansea in his first game. :D

Still. It's far too early to judge. I think there was a lot of hype around Van Gaal and so losing the first game has shocked everyone and made them lose perspective. People judge far, far too quickly on the basis of single games these days. Everyone has a definitive opinion on a player, team or manager after one result. I remember saying the same thing this time last year when the knifes were out for Wenger after losing at home to Villa. Also United's advantage will be in the winter months as all their rivals are in the Champions League or Europa League.

In my defence I will point out that most of my observations in my last post are exactly the same ones I made all last season and even the season before. United won the league but did not play very well, the other top teams fell over and allowed them to grind their way to the title .

Re: Football Season 2014/15

People are forgetting Moyes has zero experience at this level. Everton are a decent side but United are a much bigger club and LVG has success at the levels United are used to. SAF brought success under the rule of fear and I sense Van Gaal will do similar.

OK so we lost the opening game but didn't SAF lose games too? United are playing an unfamiliar formation, had 9 first-choice players out and even though Swansea had injuries they played pretty well all things considered.

I gave Moyes until Christmas to win me round before I turned on him so I'm not going to judge LVG on one game. Anyone expecting United to win the league this year is setting their sights way too high. If we win nothing but manage top 4 I'll be happy for this season.

Yes mate. What I mean is it shows it's a Sky Sports channel that's being broadcast for residential viewing. Sky use the pint glass symbol for it's Sports channels in commercial premises. well they did as it's been a while since i watched a match in the pub. This new one will be to stop a residential account being used to show Sky Sports in a pub or club. I don't know if it's just for cable viewers or if satellite viewers have the same thing on their sports channels.

I think that everone is jumping the gun over Man Utd, I am not a Utd fan, but at the end of this season, Utd will be up there challeneging for the title.

I think the worst thing is having Rooney as a skipper - to much pressure in him. We know about that from the World Cup.

Its only the first game of the new season, so l reckong within a month Urd will be firing on all cylinders.

Spurs spent £30 million based on Lamela's one half decent season with Roma and in a hope that somehow they would get a player as good as Bale but frankly so far he has proved a unmitigated disaster and it would not surprise me if he is offloaded back to Italy on loan before the end of the current transfer window.

Or it shows United don't sell their best players. When the core of your team either retires or leaves for free towards the end of their careers (Giggs, Scholes, Vidic, Evra, Ferdinand...) the net spend is going to be high because those players need to be replaced.

Liverpool I will support. In fact, I would support any English team in Europe apart from Arsenal, Chelsea and Man City. Sorry for going against the grain.

Deep down I think most of us enjoy seeing the others flop. I'm not ashamed to admit that. For me, the days of cheering on all the British teams in Europe ended when the Premier League started.

Sorry Mr P but when Man Utd and Chelsea won the CL l was extremely pleased that they won it and if any other English side won it l will be just as pleased.

I understand that, but it would take a few years of every team not getting out of the group stage for that to change. And let's be honest, most of us have enjoyed a laugh or two at others failure without it doing any damage to our coefficient rating.

wasnt the EPL in danger of dropping places had recent triumphs for English teams not occurred ?

I respect that Den. To me it's just the way football has gone over the last 20 odd years. It's so high profile now, it becomes natural for a lot of people to take pleasure from others failure.

Not as far as I know. You can keep your points high just by being in the group stages and progressing to the knock out stages.

My worry for MU is Ed Woodward two summers running has promised big signing's and so far he has failed to deliver any stellar names.

Personally l don't think they have a the club at heart as they seem more interested in making as much money as possible rather then putting MU back at the elite of world football.
