AFAIK VM were offered Sky News HD from launch, but didn't think it was worth paying for and weren't desperate to play the 'HD channel numbers game" like Sky.

It wouldn't surprise me if you're right and I bet that this channel would now be available as a free add on to other channels to VM.

I often set reminders after choosing my nights viewing. I'd rather it didn't record as it uses valuable disc space if I fall asleep or get called out with work as ocassionally happens.

Having said that, it's not too much of an issue as there is a lot more disc space in the TiVo than their is in the V+.

Do people find the baby TiVo has adequate disc space?

The 500GB one is more than adequate for my wife and I. Think highest we got to was around 85% full and this was after a fortnight away last year.

However I guess it depends on the volume, type (series/movies) and quality (SD/HD) of the programmes each customer records as to whether you need 500GB or 1TB one to meet your needs.

Thanks for the feedback. Because of the price rises, I am still undecided as to whether to upgrade to a TiVo, or dump pay TV altogether.

Happy saturday all. Here's a question for you all. 2013 has been a great year for virgin media (except for the unnecessary price rises). If father vince rooney christmas could give you three presents for 2014 what would you want from VM?

Mine would be sky sports to be on tv anywhere. Missing sky channels. No more price rises :)

Whats everyone elses?

I would have liked to see Sky News in HD, but to be honest now that BBC News is HD , Sky can go whistle!. They missed a trick there.

I find some of the Presenters on Sky News a bit rubbish, and talk about over hype, Breaking News!, it's foggy in London. Come on.

I have always said only sky channels we got chance of getting is sky news HD and SSN HD no chance of others

My 'aye right that'll happen' are for Sunderland to stay up and for Sky Atlantic to close down just to shut people up wishing for an overrated channel whose very few good shows are easily available through clever use of VM's excellent broadband service!!

<sigh> Hangover rant over, that's better!!

Yeah, it is vastly overrated. I must say I have been pretty disappointed with Banshee (one program I was looking forward) so far. I know it is two shows in, but it seems pretty formulaic in everything I have seen so far. If that and Game Of Thrones is some of the best they are offering, it really does not convince me it will get much better.

Not sure I would want it closed down though, I would prefer to see it arrive for those who want it, but it would be nice to stop people banging on about it. That said, what else would people write on here?

Surely that's exactly the times you do want your chosen programmes to record?

Unless your storage is at 99% you really don't need to worry about letting Tivo do its own thing.

I record extensively and have had VM Tivo since launch and have never had any saved programmes deleted to make space for new ones. Every few weeks I just have a clear out of a few programmes I decide I don't want to keep.

No I don't think everyone is actually "happy" - I incidentally do not actually think Santa is on his way either.

Jeez some people really do seem to enjoy missing the point :)

I doubt it Vince mate, I think the only thing that VM plan to do is to await for MediaBoys winners and losers results thread of 2013.

I am sure like the rest of us they are eagerly awaiting who will replace 2012 SD Channel of the year currently being held by Channel 5 +1

Never noticed, not that I would mind you, I just wish they'd remove about another 50 or so channels which are complete and utter dross imo!

I think MB also said that you had to post in all threads as well to be included in the top posters.

Personally, cannot believe that I am in the top posters of the year. Didn't realise I had wasted that much time, er sorry passed the time of day in a constructive manner, on the Coming Soon threads.

I never said that we got Sky Atlantic. I said that it would have been a better year if we had gotten the Universal HD channel!......All that certain people on this forum went on about this past year was when are we getting Sky Atlantic, when are getting Sky Atlantic, when are we getting Sky Atlantic and on and on and on...... I was just trying to state that the Universal channel is far superior to that Sky channel. When I used to have Sky I could have counted the amount of times on one hand that I watched that channel, on the other hand the Universal HD channel one of the most popular channels watched in this household. By the way that last part of your post doesn't make much sense . lol

HD swaps would be great!

---------- Post added at 14:12 ---------- Previous post was at 14:05 ----------

Quick question for TiVo users: under My Shows, would anyone else find it useful to be able to create your own folders to help manage your recordings? Even allowing settings for things like "Keep until" for folders' contents? I know folders are created for wishlist and series link recordings, and I was able to create a movie folder for any films I record, thanks to info found on this forum. It's certainly a feature I would like to see.

Must admit, I've only watched Sky Atlantic 3 times since getting Sky 2 weeks ago, once for a film (could get online) and the other 2 were documentaries which I watched as part of research for something. It's not as good as people make it out to be. However I may argue that when Game of Thrones and Mad Men come back...

If Virgin Media Do Get Sky Atlantic Then The Only Shows i Would Watch on That Channel are: Game of Thrones, Banshee & The Following Starring Kevin Bacon.

Also If Sky Bravo Does Launch on Sky & Virgin Next Year Then I Think That They Might Move Hawaii 5-O & NCIS: LA To Sky Bravo. Also Sky Bravo Might Pick Up White Collar aswell. This Is What I Think!

Boardwalk Empire is a excellent series and we have picked up the first three series for £23 in a Black Friday deal and for us that's a bargain.

Am glad you are enjoying The Tunnel. The original is a fantastic series, and one of my favourites. I am just relieved they have decided to waste money on what is (imho) a pointless remake rather than acquire the rights to the original. :)

My new years resolution is not to mention SKY Atlantic on the coming soon thread until its launch on Virgin Media has been confirmed.

Does anyone know what will happen to the movie rights? (If they are not already owned by Sky that is.) Will they just revert to Sky, seeings as they help fund the channel or will they be for grabs?

Can't even comment on the original as I've never seen it but I've thoroughly enjoyed The Tunnel. There's a thread on DS many of whom have seen the original. I may watch the original as I believe its available on Netflix.

Cheers for the link, MM. I will have a look shortly.

If you can handle the subtitles, it is well worth watching. It is available on Netflix and you should be able to watch it in time for the second series starting on 4th Jan. :)

That's an unexpected shock. Maybe this is why the planned launch never materialised?? Still, it does help narrow the gap between HD availability on Sky and VM.

Rumour has it VM will be introducing HD swaps in 2014.

I heard this some time ago too (think I posted about it in here). I don't think that it will apply to the BBC1 regions until they are all converted to HD (soley my opinion).

bbc1 and itv1 will not be included in hd swap i think as you point out due to regions. bbc2 has become the first mainstream channel to do a hd swap on sky.

Why O why do you all go on about this channel! If Sky had a Paint Drying HD channel, would you want that too because it wasn't on VM!:erm:

I agree. The Bridge was terrific. And series two starts on BBC 4 HD on January 4th. One to set a series link for.

Because some people like to watch quality, award winning drama, that is currently not available on VM. Fairly obvious really.

If only they did - it would create quite a stir and generate at least 300 posts along the way ;)

If Sky have implemented such a swap on BBC 2 then their customers in Scotland are being disadvantaged as there are still differences in programming between the SD and HD variants. There are Scotland-only programs still showing on the SD variant.

That's why its only for customers in England I believe.

Is this confirmed? MGM HD has only recently announced a tie-up with Picturehouse cinemas to show its films in Monday matinees with a two-for-one discount for MGM HD subscribers. This is still being promoted. http://www.picturehouses.co.uk/News/...m_Hd_Matinees/

In what way is Ozsat's information proven? Is it because he/she is a reliable poster with a good track record?
