I'm going easy tonight. I'm going to watch the Khan fight, go to bed for a few hours, and get up for Martinez Vs. Murray. All I have is 4 Corona. Got stuff to do tomorrow :(

Re: BoxNation on Virgin Media?

Boxnation have picked up Garcia Vs. Judah at the very last minute. The fight should be on between 2:30am to 3:30am. The Martinez Vs. Murray fight has also been moved. The fight is outdoors and the weather has taken a turn for the worse. Martinez Vs. Murray could be starting anywhere between 1:00am and 1:30am. Guys over at Boxrec, who are watching an international stream have suggested the fight might be off if the weather gets worse!

£10.95 is pretty steep to watch Jamie McDonnell, especially when the show is going head to head with Ricky Burns vs Jose Gonzalez on SKY Sports. I think this might be the lowest selling British PPV of all time! McDonnell simply isn't known well enough outwith die hard boxing fans.

"Promoter Dennis Hobson believes that Sky Sports’ refusal to deal with anyone but Matchroom Sport is “crippling” the sport in this country and has described their partnership as “akin to a monopoly”.

"Elsewhere, Channel 5 released a statement two weeks ago in which it stated there would be no boxing “for the time being”.

It'll be on BT and SKY, with negotiations with Virgin ongoing. Many Virgin customers on BT's Twitter page asking what is happening with Virgin Media. Virgin did reply with the following:

"We've not forgotten about you but nothing's been agreed yet. Check here http://virg.in/BTSport for the latest on this"

Prizefighter has run it's course. Last nights was poor. The fans in York Hall hardly made a sound. Matchroom put about 6 Prizefighters on per year. I'd much rather they use the dates for guys lower down the pecking order in their stable to fight for British, Commonwealth and European titles.

Froch Vs. Kessler should be good however for whatever reason I've not really been bitten by the bug for this one. Usually I'm buzzing weeks in advance for big British fights but I'm passive about this one. I'm not even sure if I'll buy the event yet. I'm sure the week long promo shows on SKY Sports will sway my mind!

Froch VS Kessler on Virgin Media.

Virgin Media are not broadcasting the right information (V and V+ Boxes Channel 0.)

The boxing will not be shown until Wednesday at 5pm and will end at 10pm on Sunday night.

Info was found on my Ex-Sky box tonight as Sky Box Office showing an movie from midnight on Sunday on the stream that Sky are using to broadcast the Boxing.

Looking forward to Froch Vs. Kessler. Out in the garden just now with my brother having a couple of beers.

I know everyone is backing Froch, and he is the clear favorite however I fancy Kessler to win.

Froch has been behaving a little out of character this week. Also in the stare down yesterday Froch looked away from Kessler fairly quickly, then looked away a further 2 times. I have watched 2 Froch interviews from yesterday, he looks pure white and a little red under his eyes. In the interviews Froch was rubbing his lips a lot, running his tongue over his gums and blinking very slowly. I think Froch may have psyched himself out or he's burned too much nervous energy.

Froch just didn't seem to be his usual self. Kessler however has been super confident and cool through out. Kessler has suggested win, lose or draw this is his last fight. Kessler is a true warrior, I can't see him going out on a defeat or taking this fight if he thought Froch was going to beat him. Hopefull Kessler is not treating this as his retirement fund fight!

Four good fights; Smith impressed me the most, Froch deserved his win on points, Bellow fights like a animal and Groves seems to outclass everyone he faces at the moment.
It does annoy me though that Sky let their presenters rabbit on when good fights are going on in the background, they should learn from BoxNation on this aspect.

Sadly I have to agree :D Martin Gethin vs Ammeth Diaz is going to be a drink free zone as I'm a busy boy on Saturday morning.

Been slow on Boxnation in the past couple of weeks. Still no official confirmation that Huck Vs. Afolabi III will be shown a week on Saturday.

Heard a little rumour today regarding the Launch of Boxnation HD. I have no idea if Boxnation HD will launch on both Virgin and SKY however a September launch seems certain. If Boxnation secure the rights to show Mayweather Vs. Alvarez, on the 14th September, this will be the fight they use to drive the launch of their new HD channel.

I would have thought Boxnation would want if launched their new HD channel on as many platforms as possible! Will we ever get a fight card at least one a week, I would love them to show a so called small hall show if their budget is a bit tight!

Carl Froch Vs. Mikkel Kessler II will be shown this Saturday on SKY Sports 4 from 8:30pm. If you didn't catch this on Saturday, it's worth a watch!

Good news for free to air boxing. Saturday the 08th June see's the return of live action to Channel 5 as James DeGale defends his WBC Silver Super Middlewight title against Stjepan Bozic. Chris Eubank, Kid Galahad and Hughie Fury will also feature on the card.

I can see no reason why the HD version wouldn't come to Virgin. It'll probably cost us an extra £2 or £3 per month.

I would also like to see more small hall events, or at the very least international action on a delayed basis shown through the week. I'm sure it wouldn't cost too much to pick up delayed rights for action taking place in Mexico, Japan, South Africa, Philippines etc... Plenty of lower weight world title fights happening all the time that never see the light of day in the UK.

i dont think boxnation have a long term deal with sauerland anymore as huck v afolabi is next week and still no sign its going to be shown! they used to have them on the schedule as soon as the fights were announced but they have missed a few of their shows recently. im sure they will get this fight sometime this week but it seems they have used up a lot of money getting the mayweather fight and the shows the weeks before it and have forgot to get any fights after this. for me frank warren needs to put more uk shows on or needs to do a deal with hatton promotions and also get frank maloney to put more shows on boxnation as the deal he had with loaded tv is no longer in place!

Last week Eddie Hearn tweeted that SKY would be showing live action this Saturday. The EPG shows Live International Boxing from 3am on SKY Sports. Chad Dawson Vs. Adonis Stevenson is for the WBC Light Heavyweight title. Tony Bellew is set to fight the winner of this bout.

Last week SKY was due to show Bute Vs. Pascal as part of the Froch Vs. Kessler PPV. The fight was cancelled after Bute hurt his hand in training. Both Bute Vs. Pascal and Dawson Vs. Stevenson are being promoted by GYM Promotions in Canada. Apparently SKY re-negotiated their deal so instead of picking up Bute Vs. Pascal when it does go ahead, they are showing Dawson Vs. Stevenson instead.

Nothing official yet from SKY however it should be confirmed this Thursday on Ringside.

And if you've not had enough, BBC 2 are showing the European Amateur Boxing Championships from 4pm on sunday afternoon. Some of our lads are already in the medals before this weekends finals. Leeds light-flyweight Jack Bateson, London super-heavyweight Joe Joyce and Welsh flyweight Andrew Selby all won on Wednesday to advance to the semi-finals and a guaranteed bronze medal. SKY have picked up Gennedy Golovkin Vs. Matthew Macklin on the 29th June. I'm expecting an announcement soon from Boxnation regarding Bernard Hopkins Vs. Karo Murat on the 13th July. The show is being jointly promoted by Goldenboy and Sauerland which makes this show as good as confirmed.

August is usually a notoriously quiet month for boxing in Britian as boxing takes an unofficial 6 week break from end of July to mid September. Not to fear however as there is a few cards out there for us fans:

16th August - Andrzej Fonfara Vs. Gabriel Campillo (ESPN / BT Sports)
17th August - Danny Geale Vs. Darren Barker (SKY Sports)
24th August - Jurgen Braehmer Vs. TBA & Arthur Abraham Vs. TBA (Unconfirmed Boxnation)

Probably will not bother with the German bill on Boxnation; they tend to have massive gaps between the bouts. The Channel 5 bill looks to be a good one - I could be wrong but I believe this is the last fight contracted to them?

It could explain why Haye Vs. Fury is suddenly being mentioned. Channel 5 and Primetime are owned by media mogul Richard Desmond. It was suggested should Fury step up to face a Klitschko the fight would be PPV on Primetime rather than free to air on Channel 5. If the Channel 5 deal is over, it opens the door for Haye Vs. Fury to take place on SKY Box Office.

If Mick Hennessy after tonight is without a UK TV deal once more, maybe SKY will offer him the carrot of some live dates on SKY Sports over the next 12 to 24 months if Haye Vs. Fury happens.

Not a lot of info about opponents on the bill tonight on Channel 5:
Glow, Bluewater (Channel 5 & WealthTV): James DeGale (holder) v Stjepan Bozic (WBC Silver super-middleweight title); Kid Galahad v s/o; Chris Eubank Jnr v s/o; Hughie Fury v s/o; Peter McDonagh v s/o; Dani Davis v s/o; Eli Green v s/o; Sammy Cantwell v s/o.

---------- Post added at 11:25 ---------- Previous post was at 11:15 ----------

Found some more info:
James DeGale v Stejpan Bozic (super-middleweight)

Chris Eubank Jr. v Tyan Booth (middleweight)

Kid Galahad v Isaac Nettey (super-bantamweight)

Hughie Fury v TBA (heavyweight)

I must admit I'm not exactly buzzing about that line-up. James DeGale European champion 6 fights ago but gave up the title to pursue the WBC silver route to world honors. DeGale should be facing better opponents than 38 year old Bozic. DeGale needs to stop this guy tonight, and do it in convincing fashion as his last couple of Channel 5 outing have been stinkers.

Boxrec have Hughie Fury listed against this guy:

http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?hum...2788&cat=boxer

The last 2 people to stop this guy is our very own Matt Skelton and Richie Towers, both on British soil. I have a feeling this one could be over quickly :D

Billy Joe Saunder Vs. John Ryder confirmed for 21st September on Boxnation.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sl2I83QPF9A

John Ryder, a Matchroom fighter, was at the press conference today. Looks like this is going to happen after all.

Strange few weeks. Paul Smith Vs. Tony Dodson was supposed to be on Boxnation but is now on SKY at the end of this month. Frank Warren spoke about this fight a few days ago and seemed happy to confirm his fighter, Paul Smith, was going to feature on a SKY Sports / Matchroom event. Now Ryder will feature on Boxnation.

Good interview with Eddie Hearn:

Eddie suggests Nathan Cleverly is facing Kovalev next month. He also says some things that suggest Paul McCloskey, currently with Matchroom, may be following Frampton to Boxnation for the Belfast show in September.

I agree. It's great to know what is happening at a promotional level in the UK. Don't know if you've seen the recent Q&A session with Eddie Hearn? If not well worth the 85 minutes!

I'm looking forward to Warrens Q&A. I like Eddie Hearn but I grew up on Frank Warren shows. Warren will always be my favourite. He gets tons of stick from fans in various forums but I think he's alright.

"Watch out for a whole load of exciting BoxNation news tomorrow afternoon"

Frank Warren has Tweeted:

"We'll be releasing a lot of exciting news in tomorrow's boxnationtv presser. Some of British boxing biggest figures will be in attendance."

Seems strange that some of British boxing's biggest figures would be present if it was just a run of the mill Boxnation press conference. I know that Lennox Lewis is currently in Liverpool. I wonder if he will be involved?

Found an article in the Irish Sun from the 21st June regarding Belfast's Carl Frampton and Cork’s WBO International middleweight Gary O’Sullivan:

http://www.thesun.ie/irishsol/homepa.../Fab-four.html

"Hopefully this new Irish interest in affairs prompts BoxNation and UPC to get their fingers out and start working together. The specialist fight channel is still unavailable to more than 382,000 digital TV subscribers in Ireland. Fight fans here should start to lobby both, on @UPCIreland and @boxnationtv."

Re: BoxNation on Virgin Media?

http://www.boxnation.com/boxing-news...ss-conference/

The channel, which has been operating for 22 months, held a swanky press conference at London restaurant on Tuesday outlining future plans.

The broadcaster revealed they are in talks Bill Ives, Chairman of the channel's sponsors Rainham Steel, to become a major shareholder.

Ives is a long-term supporter of boxing, and fought as an amateur in the 1960s boxing in London divisional championships.

Subscribers who pay just £10 a month for action from Britain and all over the world will be able to see fights in HD from later this year.

Chairman Richard Brooke and board member Frank Warren also outlined plans for BoxNation to be made available overseas.

Warren appeared at the press conference with promoters Ricky Hatton, Frank Maloney and Barry McGuigan, whose boxers will feature on the channel.

Warren said: "The channel is going from strength to strength and when our cards go in HD our subscribers will be delighted.

"Our main goal is to deliver the best fights from around the world like what we are doing with Floyd Mayweather v Saul Alvarez which is the biggest fight in the world this year.

"We know what fans want and we will continue to deliver for them for years to come.

"Our subscriber base is excellent right now, but of course it is event driven and there are times it is higher than others."

Chairman Richard Brooke, board member George Warren and Chief of Operations JIm McMunn are working on implementing HD.

Another offer coming soon is giving fans a chance to sign up for the rest of 2013 and pay just £50. Details will be released shortly.

Brooke added: "Our coverage has made BoxNation the channel of champions and we have an unrivalled schedule of fights coming up.

"It has been hard work, but we are here and getting bigger all the time."

Usually the boxing calendar dries up between the end of July and the middle of September. This period seems to be the British boxing summer holiday. That's what makes the Cleverly Vs. Kovalev fight on the 17th August so unusual. It's the only event on British soil between the 27th July to the 7th September!

Anyway the point I'm trying to make is last year during the quiet summer period, a lot of Boxnation subscribers left. I don't think Boxnation want the same summer exodus, especially with BT sports launching at the same time trying to attract sports fans to their service. I think Boxnation are simply trying to tie customers down for the rest of the year.

I don't think boxnation are struggling for funds, if the Daily Mail is to be believed:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/box...die-Hearn.html

"Sky had appeared to be on the brink of establishing a monopoly with Hearn until Box Nation found millions more in funding."
