This may have been asked and answered before but my question regards recording priority. If the intuative Tivo tries to record what it thinks you might need from key words etc. and I have set my recoder to record specific programmes, which takes precedent?

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2

Just got my email today and ordered online. Rang sales first to confirm costs etc.. No confirmation email as yet but did print out confirmation page from my browser with all the correct info. Decided to move the existing V+HD box upstairs so just gonna cost me the £9.50 extra a month inc tivo fee + the £149 activation cost. Not bad really as my TV contract ran out a couple of weeks back so saved £10 a month from retentions so not real extra cost for me.

Happy days :D

It will be the specific ones that take priority?

Have they all been sent out today... I still haven't got mine. Just to make things clear, I did receive the last email (the Dean one, and the one after that apologising for calling me Dean) so I should get the email, as I put my customer details on the form.

If you don't get one by the end of Wednesday, then you would be able to call sales.

you should be on our database as a pre reg'er.

Sounds like it just needs more appointments loading on to the system. Sales should speak to Installs to add more quota.

Quick question, I have two normal V Boxes and a V+ Box. If I decide to go with Tivo do I give up my V+ Box to replace Tivo or can I replace one of my normal V Boxes???

You will be able to swap one of the normal boxes and keep the V+:D

You can replace whichever box you wish (personally I'd go with the oldest SD box you have and get the tech to shuffle the boxes around)

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2

Would I be alright ringing the 150 number? In my email it doesn't list any phone numbers just the online link but I'll want to sort mine out over the phone as it probably won't just be a simple upgrade.

I was on VIP 20 until the Sky HD channels came out last year. At the time I got a retentions deal allowing me to get the Sky HD channels on both boxes for a little less than I was paying for VIP20.

I've basically got VIP20 without Talk Mobile and without Talk International. But with V+ as my second box and Sky HD Prem on both boxes. I currently pay £103.99 for that. So with Tivo it'd make it £106.99.

Am I right in thinking that VIP50 with my second box also having the Sky HD Prem channels would come to £107.55? Basically meaning that I would get the benefits of the VIP50 package by paying 56p more than I would do anyway?

Also when do you have to inform them about which boxes to replace/move around? (On phone or when the engineer comes?) I've got both types of V+ but I'd like them switching around and then the older one replaced with Tivo. The old V+ box is playing up on the HD channels so want to get that replaced and make sure that we keep the Samsung one.

I have one V box and one V+ box - I am changing the V box for the TiVo (as agreed with the TiVo team), at no extra charge (besides the £3 per month).

I'm on VIP50 although my second box is an old SD one. When I ordered the Tivo I was told there would be no additional monthly cost to swap the V+ for the SD box

BenMcr 12-04-2011 17:44

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2

I read the question as if they were talking about them keeping both existing boxes and adding TiVo. If you swap one of the boxes for TiVo on VIP 50 the price shouldn't change

Not a complaint, just curious as to the procedure.

Ordered online and it said I would receive an e-mail to confirm my install dates. Should this have happened by now? As I expected an e-mail just to confirm I had put in a request for an install date.

Cheers :)

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2

http://www.reghardware.com/2011/04/1...ia_500gb_tivo/

The box is expected to cost £49.95 up front, as per the current V+ HD set-top box, and there's an extra monthly fee for the Tivo functionality too. It's not yet clear whether buyers will also need to upgrade their broadband to the 50Mb/s package.

Surely the above is an error.

Anybody.... Ive had the email: Q: How long will the option to phone and get it for £150 be for.
2: Would you keep the Cisco box as your second box. or the Samsung V+, reason i ask is one of the original features mentioned was the ability to stream recordings from the tivo to a V HD box, now this really appeals to me, but will this be possible with a V+?
Thanks.

I current have a V+ box and V box in the 'other room'. Will i be able to upgrade to the Tivo and move the V+ box and swap it with the V box?

Also on the order page do i just 'upgrade' as i already have the extra room on the contract?

thanks

1. 30th April

2. Totally up to you... do you need a pvr in the second location? The Cisco box is likely to be TiVo'd at some point. The V+ box won't AFAIK

Upgrade, then once you have your confirmation, call 150 to put notes on your workorder about what you want swapping out.

Just wondering if any of the staff from Virgin would be so kind as to help me or look into my account.
I signed up to Tivo today for installation Monday afternoon and was told that I would still be paying the £3 fee even though im on VIP 50 and quoted the offer code, also he said as I am swapping my V+ box for the tivo it would actually cost me £7 a month more with discounts ....how can this be if it should only be the £149.99 I am paying?

Just trying to place my order via the 0800 number provided and while I am waiting for the nice Indian lady to sort out an install date I am getting a very strange recorded message it is saying "BT Talk Talk continue to hold" how strange - or is it me ?

edit - now been on waiting for this Indian lady for 21 minutes now...!!

2nd edit - all done took 24 minutes start to finish with an install date of 8 days - assuming they don't work weekends of course

Same here, put in the order, printed off the confirmation screen, but haven't yet got the email to confirm.

You've presumably got an order number, so you should be OK in case of any query.

Interesting that the 'order date' seems to be the date that you preregistered, so it looks like they have gone through the list on a first come first served basis, which seems fair enough.

No 'secret code', presumably this is only for those who need to phone in their order rather than follow the link in the email?

I had that as well, I tried to explain it to the woman, but she was struggling to deal with what she was doing. There seemed to be two states of being on hold one was working properly and this one wasn't and was gibberish and not very professional.

If anyone who deals with VM's internal helpdesk routing is reading you might want to look into it. :D

I can't be the only one who deliberately phones our own call centre numbers to make sure the IVR messages and routing works properly? ;)

Can someone please confirm something with regards to the built-in modem in the TiVo?

Is this subject to VM traffic management policy? If you were streaming loads of content all day, would it choke up like your normal broadband connection would?

Did the online purchase from link in email and I was offered 23rd April earliest. That's interesting as someone said at 10am this morning that 23rd was the earliest online, so either the system doesn't get updated with used slots, or they have the capacity still.

Great news either way as I know have a lovely birthday present to look forward to. Ahh... patience is a lovely thing.

It has no traffic management and does not count towards your broadband usage, so no STM.

Nice one, DaBoz :)

Each area has it's own allocation of installs, so someone in another town getting the same dates won't affect you.

No email for me either. Pre reg on the 1st and got an email saying thanks for registering my interest.

Got another on the 16th of Feb saying 'TV magic is only weeks away'

Then the last one I got was a 'Sorry your not one of the lucky ones' on the 18th March.

I'm an XL TV, XL BB & L Phone customer??

Am I the only one on VIP50 that hasn't received the email yet? I received all the other emails so was sure I would have been contacted by now. How long should I wait before I contact VM?

I got mine today as a Triple XL customer so they must be doing it by package so I would assume that you will be getting yours tomorrow

I got that recorded message also! It seems bizarre that a competitor is advertised on holding time on VM telephone system. Maybe some of the Staffers can report this to those who arrange such things.

Yes something about BT Talk talk continue to hold and then it goes garbles and keeps repeating itself.

Noticed this for last few weeks now when i rang them about something on my bill the other week, I would have thought this would have been rectified by now.

The call centre assumed (correctly) I'd want to keep the V+ and had arranged it that way before I even asked.

Got my email......

Phoned the 0800 number to arrange installation and got a nice suprise. I'm on XL BB, XL TV and XL Phone with Sky Movies and Movies HD with 2 V+ and 2 Vbox.

By the time they had finished, I'm now on a "new package" called "Tivo VIP 100" with movies, sports, premium hd etc for £149 and then £7 less a month than i was already paying.

No monthly Tivo charge and free install with an install of Monday PM.

I'm a great believer in if it seems too good to be true it prob is so afterwards i phoned up retentions just to check it was all correct and it is.

So looks like as well as 100mb being available in my area 2 months earlier than the pdf reckons, there are some new packages in the offing as well.

Phil (Soon to be happy Tivo user) :D

Forgot to mention, only pre-requisite it would seem, was i had to change over to direct debit.

They could be trying subliminal messaging to try and get you to change you mind, i think that is why some have said that they have been put on hold a lot of times:erm:

Got my email today. I did pre-reg and enter the competition, but got a "Dean" email, followed by another last week saying I would get details this.

All done online, install ordered for Saturday 23rd April AM :)

Now all I've got to do is watch what's left on the V+ before then...

No it has a external power source the same as the V-HD so there is no noise from the box ( although i stand to be corrected )

There are a lot ordering without receiving the email. It is discussed on other forums and the 0800 number is freely available there too.

I'm not going to post it here or link as, correct me if i'm wrong, the details aren't supposed to be generally available.

A little googling may find it though.

YES! This is great news for me. The tiny fan in the V+ sammy is only thing that annoys me about it. Even in standby it comes on for long periods.

Looking forward to getting TIVO even more now!

Just got my order sorted a short while ago. Was on the phone for best part of an hour though (most of the time on hold - before spekaing to anyone, then confirming delivery and then confirming something else lol). That recorded message sounds a bit mucked up.

Ordered an upgrade to VIP 50 + Sky HD Premium on the 2nd box = £107.55. Only worked out 56p dearer than adding Tivo my existing package so I thought the extra 30mb was worth 56p lol. Install set for next Wednesday.

I got that and was a little concerned as I was giving credit caed details over the phone and it was very strange to get mentions of BT and Talk talk on a virgin call centre.

I was assured it was OK but the CS rep wanted me to be fully assured and passed meover to his manager after taking my order, who explained it should have ben a full message comparing VM to BT and Talk Talk prices, but it had some how got truncated.

Anyway, my card payments are showing up on My Virgin media, so it wasn't the opposition diverting my call :D

I'm actually doing probably the worst thing possible and just waiting for the email to arrive, which it hasn't yet. I don't want to be seen as jumping the queue or anything. However, being what feels like the last person to receive the email is killing me inside... (of course that was a joke, but it's annoying, trust me)

What's worse is there are actually people who have gotten the email before me and hate TiVo and are just slagging it off. Why must they tease me! I heard that they were sending out these emails in reverse order from VIP, to XL and then L. I'm on XL. I feel as though someone has misplaced my email! There's still another day left, I'll have to wait tomorrow now too!

They said that taking TiVo starts a new contract. I asked to speak to billing and the confirmed my £22.00 loyalty had now gone. I was under the impression that it would only cost £3.00 more for tivo.

That is very interesting Hugh.

I had a slight problemette with billing when I upgraded to the 30Mb SuperHub, and neither CS or Retentions were able to resolve it - they passed me on to the CEO's office, who, after a brief discussion, agreed to resolve the issue (I didn't ask for additional discounts/recompense, just the status quo).

Those notes were on my file, and the people I spoke to noted that I did not wish a re-occurrence of the "misunderstanding".:)

I was informed it was a new 12 month contract, but I have no issue with that.

Davekg77 12-04-2011 22:27

Re: General TiVo Discussion Part 2

Well I am not sure why the confusion then. Is it correct that the discount should be lost. I was told discount was very high and that TiVo is a new product.

Slightly worrying. Have had problems with my bill before with Virgin.

Dont want it installed and tied into another contract to find out at the end of the month im paying loads more!
