My Insider has been told me that more HD channels are definatley coming, names to be announced.

And do not forget that it says on the price increase link it says that they are fetching more at no extra fee:D

We’re bringing you more HD

If you have an HD-activated set top box and an HD TV, you can already enjoy a great range of HD channels

– with XL TV customers getting up to 17 of your favourite channels in stunning HD (see page 9 for a full list). And during this year we’ll launch even more HD channels at no extra monthly charge. Don’t forget, you can also add your favourite Sky premium channels in HD, like Sky Movies and Sky Sports 1 & 2 – taking you to up to 29 channels in crystal-clear HD. Unlike our other HD channels, there’s an extra monthly fee for Sky premium channels.

Unless there's a mistake in the text, its will also be available on Size L and the way I reading it, it will be available on Size L for no extra charge.

Of course, we all would, on our own STB/TiVos. ;)

VM can't win. If they say something its , "yeah whatever, coming soon whenever", and if they say nothing its , "Virgin don't communicate with their customers enough. They should say something."

I read it to mean that too.

Wasn't TV Choice £7 extra per month on Size L?

That's speculation. :)

In fact, didn't VM remove the option to add on TV Choice to M+/L? So now their adding an L-sized option back for nothing.

Yes, some time ago the option to pay for a seperate sub to TV Choice for TV packages below XL was removed. IIRC it was something to do with a contractual requirement for the HBO content that was available at that time.

Now HBO have got into bed with Sky, it appears it's made a comeback!

Rumours are rife that Premier Sports is indeed coming very soon, as part of the XL package!

I've noticed on the Premier Sports Facebook page that Premier Sports themselves are not denying this, that are instead asking people who are discussing it how they managed to get this info. The info has apparently been leaked by someone at Virgin.

Fingers crossed :D

Who do I email a list of all the channels I want to see appear to for it to be presented in the coming soon thread as a rumour?

Do love the fact that even in a rumour post there is a question mark next to one of the channels... is there even more doubt about that channel than the others?

Just post here, I'd like to see what channels you want to see appear that Virgin don't already provide, and aren't in that rumoured list posted by Media Boy. SKY Sports 3 & 4 HD along with SKY Atlantic HD aren't coming so don't count.

Having just moved from Sky the channels I'll miss most are Al Jazeera, NHK World and Sky Arts HD 1/2. So I'll be happy to have any of those back.

I'm also sad to be missing out on Sky Atlantic, but I don't think there's any chance of that coming over anytime soon.

Also, the Turner channel's schedules for March are on Digiguide. TCM2's aren't there, though. Don't wanna jump to conclusions, but could they be closing TCM 2?

Speaking of Turner schedules, on the CN one, it says their showing Regular Show and Adventure Time. If you a fan of Old-School Cartoon Network shows, you should really check them out :P

It's more than that. I'm sure they have been planning this since last June when Robot Chicken etc aired on FX.

It's really confusing why they just haven't announced it yet, but it could be due to Turner changing licences on all their channels

Just had a flyer through the door that says...

Quote:

A great range of channels, including HD:

Sky 1 (Non HD logo shown)
Sky Living (Non HD logo shown)
BBC HD (HD logo used)
ITV1 HD (HD logo used)
Discovery (Non HD logo shown)
Sky Sports News (Non HD logo shown)
4HD (HD logo used)
Five HD (HD logo used)
Film4 HD (HD logo used)

Add Sky Sports and Sky Movies any time you like for a bit extra, in HD if you want

Sky Sports 1 HD
Sky Sports 2 HD
Sky Movies HD
The flyer makes use of all the new Sky logos... Cock up about Sky Sports News or something more?

The way you have it worded can be read that the channel list is the great range and there is HD too.

It doesn't say a great range of HD channels including

Normal marketing misread - which they know people will do

more channels and hd channels will be added this year for sure. As for the price rise, well yes none of us like it but it happens every year anyway so it`s not a surprise,is it? Let`s hope they`re entertainment channels though as we have more than enough shopping channels, adult channels and radio channel.

Virgin's selection of news channels is pretty woeful compared to what I was used to with Sky, would definitely like to see that number get increased.

I maybe off the mark here ( usually am :p: ) ... but wont the final plug pull on analouge give VM far more scope to unify the network and add as much as they can fill their boots with ( assuming they can pay for it all of course ) ..

doubt its actually holding them back as such but if everyone in a cabled area was getting the exact same lineup from the same main headend then it should be easier to add stuff without some peeps being left out and complaining

as i say probably wide of the mark and clutching at straws :D but i think VM's TV service has vastly improved in the last year but it still needs better PQ on some channels and a better choice of channels on all fronts.

Apart from Milton Keynes and Westminster there is no more analogue tv on the Virgin Media network. everyone is on one Super Head-end too. ;)

I know whos complaining, but whos left out?

More channels are a coming too!

They are the only domestic news channels on VM but as far as I know they are the only domestic news channels that exist.

CNN and Euronews are rolling international news channels, then there's the business skewed CNBC and Bloomberg too. All available on VM.

Of course Star News is also available to asian pack customers too. And whlst not strictly news BBC Parliament is available.

There is a wider range of international news channels available on Sky and indeed many on Freesat too as most are free to air.

Unlikely, it left Sky ages ago.

It's freely available on multi satellite systems though but dosen't broadcast from 28 east, it ended in August 2009.

Whilst I think there is a decent choice of music channels they have retracted of late as Viacom closed some on VM but I would guess Music on Demand is where VM think they provide more, for XL anyway. PPV otherwise.

Which I am (xl) and I think it misses out on ppl like myself who have tastes outside the chart. I don't think I am asking much when Scuzz is free on freesat

Lets face it there are loads of FTA channels on Freesat but mostly Sky that are not on VM. I have no idea why but I have read it is a lot more expensive to launch a channel on VM than Freesat. I cannot vouch for the accuracy of that though.

Maybe VM generally prefer pay channels. I honestly do not know.

True but a mod on the scuzz forum (in a pm) said if I got enough ppl to kick up a fuss Scuzz maybe added back to vm so worth a shot haha :D

Honestly tho if I got MTV classics, Lava and Scuzz i'd be one happy vm customer and would give up my sky sub

It's gotta be worth a shot I suppose.

But there are loads of forums about loads of channels that broadcasters ask viewers to do the same but there is no sign of them.

VM (quite correctly from a business point of view IMO) seem to be really going after the higher tier customer these days, tying in Tivo to XL, removing the option of TV choice for non XL customers (although a watered down version is coming for L viewers), upgrading download speeds for XL BB customers and on and on.

I personally don't expect a glut of FTA satellite channels anytime soon myself but you never know. If it's practical perhaps consider a freesat system, that's not ideal I know but at least you are in a bit more control over the FTA channels you can watch. You wouldn't get MTV Classics though.

I was going to do a facebook petition but then I remembered I don't have a facebook page.

As a music lover I think I have been forgotten about when it comes to the new channels, as such it's all about the new entertainment channels, news. sports. info or the hd variants and that's pretty weak since I watch none of those and have let my mum have my vm box since we don't use it.

Would be lovely if us music fans got catered to aswell

Hiroki, who do you e-mail to request new channels?

I'll join your campaign for new music channels in particular as this area can be improved on VM.

Whatever happened to channel availability on VM? MTV Classics is needed rather a lot I'd say. Also I've appreciated having More4+1 on Sky.

Mind you neither of these things would stop me from getting back to VM as soon as I move back to Sheffield! :D
