Yep :)

For some reason it reminded me of Agents Of Shield, which after only a few eps, grated on me so much I deleted the series link.

I can only hope for better.

Too late I deleted the few remaining unwatched eps last week.

Sorry but I found the casting to be uninspiring and the stories, well, just boring.

Maybe I'm getting to the age when I seen it all before but I still enjoy an out-there yarn if the cast have the talent to flesh out the characters.

I found the characters of AOS to be disappointedly 1 dimensional :(

Nevertheless Kudos to those that stuck with it and were ultimately rewarded. One mans meat and all that.......... :)

That's being rather generous :erm:

You wait years and years for a new space-based SF series, and then two come along at the same time: Dark Matter and Killjoys.

Both are watchable, but neither one (so far) is particularly great.

Yup, totally average.

I think that the best space-based SF we've had since Firefly are Battlestar Galactica and Stargate.

Killjoys is nowhere near on a par with any of those (nor is Dark Matter).

Just watched all 3

Lucifer I liked the best but I think that's because it's my style of humour. Blindspot has the most potential and minority report is the one I least liked as the plot is held up only by the special effects

Paul 11-08-2015 21:23

Re: Science Fiction, Fantasy, and other Snippets

I have watched Blindspot & Lucifer so far.

Blindspot looked quite interesting though I wonder how irritated I might become if they drag the mystery on and on (and surely there is a limit to the number of clues on her body as well, which could be somewhat limiting).

Lucifer I loved, I'm definitely looking forward to seeing that, roll on 2016.

I still have Minority Report to watch, that sounded like the one I would be least interested in.

I decided to pull down the Supergirl pilot as well, and watch that, its had poor reviews so far ... :erm:

I am up to Episode 8 of Jessica Jones. Its starting to get really really good.

Although Tennent doing his 10th Doctor accent it a bit jarring. Everytime he speaks I just think its a slightly evil 10th Doctor lol. He should really have gone with a different accent.

It's meant to be awful :erm:

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/rev...-review-843757

Quote:

It takes neither a TV critic nor a fortune teller to read the tea leaves on WEtv's South of Hell. If you're a network with minimal experience in the scripted space and you give a splashy straight-to-series order for a supernatural horror drama from a prolific genre producer (Jason Blum), an established genre director (Eli Roth) with a recognizable star (Mena Suvari), deciding to release all of the series at once — trimmed to only seven episodes — on the day after Thanksgiving counts as a vote of minimal confidence.

Based on two episodes, it's easy to see why WEtv had no particular clue what to do with South of Hell. Whatever WEtv's brand is, this isn't it, nor is it likely to open the network up to a future niche. It isn't scary. It looks comically cheap at times. The performances range from inconsistent to fairly awful. And unless the Emmys open up a category for Outstanding Use of Multi-Colored Contact Lenses, it's unlikely to get any real respect.

But as a representative of a subgenre already prone to overflowing hokum draped in Spanish moss, smothered in grits and delivered with Southern accents learned from a Hooked on Keanu Reeves tape series, South of Hell at least gets credit for some so-bad-it's-funny silliness to go with a premise which really could have been shaped into something better...

If done right it could be good. The BBC are usually really good at period set shows. As long as it has a decent budget for the effects.

as the original book was set in that period it should hopefully work.

as the original book was set in that period it should hopefully work.

I am looking forward to it.

We can only wait and see. The bottom line will be the viewing figures.

Supernatural is doing a fully animated Scooby-Doo episode next season (S13).

.... it will involve the Winchester brothers teaming up with Scooby himself to stop some kind of Supernatural crisis.

Tremors is back in action. Deadline reports Syfy has ordered a pilot based on the 1990 Kevin Bacon film.
The original movie followed the inhabitants of Perfection, Nevada as they tried to fight off an invasion of predatory sandworms known as “graboids.” Bacon will reprise the role of Valentine “Val” McKee for the upcoming reboot.
Written by Andrew Miller, the Tremors series revisits the town of Perfection 25 years later as the graboids have returned, “and the town’s only hope for survival is Valentine McKee (Bacon), who beat them once. But to do it again he’ll have to overcome age, alcohol and a delusional hero complex.”
Now, this isn’t the first time Tremors has been adapted as a TV series. In 2003, the spinoff show Tremors: The Series ran on G4 for only one season. However, the Syfy pilot will be the first time Bacon has reprised his role since the original film.

From Bacon:

“This is the only character I’ve played that I’ve ever thought about revisiting. I just got to thinking, ‘Where would this guy end up after 25 years?’ Andrew Miller has a fantastic take on it, and we hope to create a show that will be fun and scary for fans of the movie and folks that have yet to discover it. Let’s kick some Graboid ass!”

Re: Science Fiction, Fantasy, and other TV Snippets

There's several new series coming along later this year or next.

Bright Set in an alternate present-day where humans, orcs, elves and fairies have been co-existing since the beginning of time. Bright is genre-bending action movie that follows two cops from very different backgrounds. Ward (Will Smith) and Jakoby (Joel Edgerton) embark on a routine patrol night and encounter a darkness that will ultimately alter the future and their world as they know it.

Stargate: Origins Young Catherine Langford embarks on an unexpected adventure to unlock the mystery of what lies beyond the Stargate in order to save the Earth from darkness.

The Orville Set 300 years in the future, The Orville follows the adventures of a not-so-top-of-the-line exploratory ship in Earth's interstellar Fleet. Facing cosmic challenges from without and within, this motley crew of space explorers promise to boldly go where no comedic drama has gone before.

The Gifted Teens Lauren and Andy are involved in an incident at their high school which reveals their mutual powers to the world, forcing their parents to flee their old lives in order to protect their children. The Strucker family goes on the run, but things are made even more complicated by the fact that Reed is a prosecutor in the district attorney’s office tasked with going after mutants, which is why his children hid their powers from him for as long as possible.

Star Trek: Discovery Set roughly ten years before the events of Star Trek: The Original Series, this show sees the Klingon T'Kuvma look to unite the 24 great Klingon houses, leading to a cold war between his race and the United Federation of Planets that involves the crew of the USS Discovery.

Marvel’s The Defenders Marvel’s The Defenders follows Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist. A quartet of singular heroes with one common goal - to save New York City. This is the story of four solitary figures, burdened with their own personal challenges, who realize they just might be stronger when teamed together.

I have added The Orville to the schedule but left Bright off because it is a movie and not a tv series.

I like the look of Bright so the post wasn't in vain and I'd never heard about it until now :D Generally always happy with Will Smith in an action but comedic role, lol'd at the opening sequence in the trailer.
