Reminds me of our first kitten we were given years ago. She was so tiny and we couldn't find her one day, hunted high and low to no avail then decided to go out and found her asleep in my wife's handbag which had been hanging on the back of a chair. :)

Just been for a 12 course tasting menu with accompanying wines at Man Behind The Curtain in Leeds, Yorkshire's only Michelin starred restaurant - it was amazing.

Food was great, drinks were excellent, service was even better - worth every penny.

One again the Macmillan nurse's have been brilliant with my Mum's needs. I phoned them this morning to ask if it was possible to get something for my Mum and within 3 hours it is being arranged for me to pick up at the equipment from the occupational therapist hopefully this will ease some of the difficulties my Mum is experiencing.

I can never repay them for everything they do for people in our situation.

Good luck Taf, remember once the assessment has been carried out to phone the DWP and ask for a copy of the assessment report as this report will help should you need to ask for a mandatory reconsideration or appeal. The MR needs to be done within a month of the date of a decision. You need to give specific reasons why you disagree with the decision. Use your decision letter, statement of reasons and medical assessment report to make a note of each of the statements you disagree with and why. Taf put in as many examples as you can and don't be afraid to list everything that could apply. I would also include medical evidence, supporting the descriptors chosen. If you don't have medical evidence to hand you could talk to your son's GP and give your son's GP a copy of your letter you could then ask them if they could write you a letter of support in regards to this matter and the points you have raised. Some GPs charge a fee for this letter, if your GP does give you a letter of support make a copy of it before sending it with your MR. Then you have a copy of the GPs letter of support should it go to appeal.

Re: The Happy Thought Thread Part 4

Also make sure you highlight factual inaccuracies, not just differences of opinion of severity of symptoms.

There has a been a rise in assessors putting wrong information (getting mixed up with other assessments) on claimants' reports, and it's vital that these are highlighted.

Good luck, Taf.

It will only break Christmas if you let it.

I was made redundant back in 2009, my last official day was 31st of December, but as I had 5 days holiday and wouldn't lose out I finished around the 18th and left not giving a flying fig.

Love it when that happens. :)

A while ago I lost my wedding ring. I'd been clearing rubbish from the garage, sweeping up, emptying bins etc. so never thought I'd find it. After frantically hunting around for a good while I suddenly remembered that I'd put some things in my rarely used bum bag earlier in the day so had a peek inside and there was my ring. Of all the places it could have fallen off, it fell inside. What a relief! :)

Osem Jnr is loving his time in a local school and already received some very high praise indeed with 'outstanding' in 4 of 6 elements in his most recent assessment and only a couple of aspects requiring minor improvement. He's going to be very sad to leave in a few days but really looking forward to his next school which is a highly regarded and close enough to walk to/from.

He made us chuckle the other day when he told us that a little girl in his class noticed they have the same surname and asked if he is her daddy. Sad but funny at the same time...

Just finished checking over my Japanese banana palm: After the frost a week or two ago it was looking a bit sad. I've trimmed all the dead fronds back to solid stumps, needed a step ladder as it's getting quite tall, the inner core is still bright green so it looks OK. Now it and the side shoots (pups), one of which is already ~3 feet tall, are fully swaddled in horticultural fleece. :)

Fortunately hard, all day, frosts are rare down here near the coast. That -3°C caught me off guard.

My other three palms: Australian, Canary Island and jelly (Butia Capitata) are fully hardy to below -10°C even though they look tender.

My lad has just returned home after 9 months in Oz - flew Melbourne - Shanghai - Zurich - Manchester.

It was great to see him again, and it will be great to have all the family (and some others) for Christmas dinner.

That is good news Hugh. I bet you will see some changes in him.

I love having all the missing kids back to share Christmas with the family. So much catching up and all the parents happy. :)

We are looking forward to seeing some of our family who are travelling down from Hampshire on Christmas Eve as they will be here for 5 days as we would have gone up there for Christmas but for my ongoing health conditions.:)

Osem Jnr # 2 is home from college. In spite of all the problems, we miss him so much when he's away so really looking forward to the next couple of weeks and giving him lots of nice treats.

Happy Christmas Dilli.

In other good news, the days are now getting longer. Good news for SAD sufferers.
