Well after nearly three months of waiting I should be taking delivery of this either at the end of this week or sometime next week. Really looking forward to it, as it's a mobility scooter, but it's been built to look like a car :)

It's sure to turn a few heads.

It's got:

A Heater & Fan
A rear facing camera & sensors for easier reversing
2x USB Ports
Windscreen wiper and screenwash
Central Locking

So it will certainly keep me warm and dry in the winter months

This evening is the "old boy" reunion from a company I used to be employed by and still do work for. Looking forward to seeing old friends. We have one of these get togethers two or three times a year over in the South Laines area of Brighton.

I and a buddy are going over mid-afternoon for a chin wag and to get some food before joining the rest of the gang.

Lets hope the trains aren't too mucked about.

Rail journey planner doesn't show any disruption at the moment. The next strike was to be November 3rd but it was put off as that is poppy day. There is a late night bus that runs back to Worthing around 1 ish if push comes to shove.

I was in the pub last night when I told my mates the joke about "what to you do if an epileptic has a fit in the bath? throw your washing in".

Well, bloke on the next table turns round and says very solemnly "my brother was an epileptic and he died in the bath".

Jeez, talk about sucking the oxygen out of the air.. if only the ground could have swallowed me up?

The bloke then says "yeah, he choked on a sock!"

Our local Weatherspoon pub is excellent and the food always great. They do similar deals throughout the week with a small range of dishes on special offer including either an alcoholic or soft drink.

IIRC, Monday is mexican night, Tuesday steak, Wednesday Chicken, Thursday Curry and Friday Fish & Chips.

Co-incidentally I had fish and chips and a pint with a mate and Osem Jnr. on Friday lunchtime at another branch as we'd been out shopping. It was excellent.

Lots of tablets and sprays for 4 weeks

Not sure if I mentioned it but meeting with my biological mum went really well last week. Met one of my half brothers too very emotional, plans to meet other brothers once I feel better

Nights are drawing in (I get to burn candles and actually witness their plucky little flames),
Bedtimes are getting cooler (the super soft flanellette sheets are ON THE BED, so no shockingly cold icy surprises)
Only a matter of time before the electric blanket is yanked rudely out of mothballs (retro but don't judge me 'til you've tried it)
Cycling in the crisp chilly mornings with Autumn proudly showing off its colours, shrouded in a hint of mist.... I was an Autumn baby, it's my kinda season....

Mrs Osem sorted my right forearm arm out after I strained a muscle moving our old washing machine yesterday. Slept really badly as I couldn't get comfortable so in the morning I asked her to put her training to good use and massage it form me. I was surprised how painful it was but after suffering for about 20 mins it started to feel a lot better and I was able to remove the old machine and install the new one today pain free. I knew all the years of training wouldn't be wasted... :)

Have done a couple of hot washes with the new machine and it seems great so far. Time will tell how durable it is I suppose but so far very pleased. :D

Well myself like several others here being rather a regular visitor to the hospital we tend to arrive early and have a cup of tea and a bite to eat before going to the relevant departments but alas when l get the dates for these tests sadly l cannot do that and l am sure there will probably be a Dracula around the corner just waiting to stick those needles into me as well.:)

Yes I recall being a pin cushion when I was in hospital for a week early last year - I was having IV antibiotics and regular blood tests every few hours and through the night. It was horrible but nothing like how bad things are for some poor people. That's how I always try to think now - things may be bad but there are always people worse off.

Re: The Happy Thought Thread Part 4

My tumble dryer gave up on me last night so today my hubby went to Currys after he finished his shift and picked me up a new tumble dryer :) although I had to laugh at how he picked it. He went in the shop and said what have you got available to take away now, I must admit it was a lovely surprise and he picked a dryer that I would more than likely have picked myself as it ticks all the boxes 8 kg, condenser, LED screen display, number of drying temperatures 3 etc. Hubby is also happy as he saved money as it was reduced by £100.99. My kitchen appliances a silver/stainless steel but this will be in the cupboard under the stairs so the colour does not matter.

This is the one he brought home http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/househo...33655-pdt.html :)

Thanks. Yes, I am feeling happier. I wouldn't say I'm at 100% but compared to last week I am in a much better place. I think knowing that I only have one more job for the year has helped me be happier.

Nice choice of colours and may the hole continue to diminish. :)

Had our first hot relaxing bath since Monday. Showers are great for a quick rinse or to cool down but you can't beat a decent bath. :)

Nice to see you back Mark & let's hope in 2017 you find your dream job.

Thanks weenie, I nearly fell off my chair earlier. Manager for the job, incidentally the manager who screwed with my head, emailed everyone on the job for Sunday. I assumed it would be a job is cancelled, merry Christmas thing but no. Just reminding us to be on time then finished with hope you all have a nice weekend. What happened to the miserable Karolina I know and (used to) love? Tempted to ask her Sunday if she was feeling OK. Although I think it might be more that area management have had a word with her. Why a person with no people skills was made a manager is beyond me...

I know exactly what you mean Mark, going by some of my past managers & team leaders you would think to apply for the job it was required for them to have no people skills, extremely poor communication skills and finally it’s you, not me” attitude.

I commented to another manager that maybe I should be rude to everyone, that would see me promoted quickly :D:D he laughed and agreed with me.

Thanks nash, now got to try and keep myself positive over Christmas which hopefully I can do. Maybe this will be the first guilt free Christmas since 2001 for me? Fingers crossed.

Bah! All I ever get from HMRC is letters telling me to pay them more tax. :spin:

The OH and I are going down to Cornwall tomorrow for a week+ in my mothers place. Got some tasks to do but it's really a bit of R&R for us both. We'll have a day's overlap with my older sister but she's doing a Sunday roast. She does a good spread. :)

A friend is house sitting for us.

Surprised you didn't offer your bestest CF chums free use of your gaff and unfettered access to the wine cellar... ;)

Finished for the year, thank God. Holiday though seems to be all screwed up so going to email HR woman in the morning and tell her I'd rather lose my 14 days holiday and I'll just go straight back to JSA for a month.

I would be careful doing that Mark. JSA could very well be refused for that 2 week period if you have an underlying entitlement to holiday pay from an employer.

I realise that a lot of conditions have changed since I last dealt with Benefit regulations but I would hate to see you loose out financially, especially coming up to Christmas.

Good point, but ugh. This company just take the biscuit when it comes to dealing with stuff like this. First we had to ask our managers about what holiday entitlement we had, they didn't know so had to take names down and ask HR at HO then text/email us then we need to go online and book it. But only 2 weeks in advance, so I am stuck for a fortnight in December without money anyway.

I might look into whether I can claim Universal Credit instead of JSA. Someone else I work with does, and has been for months now.

This link to the CAB may give you some useful advise. Knowing where you stand will be useful when you actually make any claim.

YEEHAW! Finally got an email this afternoon telling me that my holiday request has been approved. Now off on holiday from 22nd to December 5th, and also got my claim for Universal Credit opened up yesterday.
