Some news that won't excite many. BBC is now listing BBC Alba HD being on Virgin Media

Although this is not the case at the moment it looks like it is happening soon, it currently remains SD

I noticed BBC Parliament is still listed as SD only.

I am starting to feel

-BBC One English areas HD
-BBC Alba HD
-BBC Parliament HD

may launch on Astra UK and Virgin Media in January 2022 to time in with the relaunch of BBC Three HD.

Well Richard reposted somewhere the other day that North West Tonight (I think) said on-air they were HD on Sky Glass and iPlayer now and it would be Early 2022 on Satellite and Freeview. So that fits with that.

Business pages this mornings Telegraph

"BT said talks over a potential sale of sports television arm BT Sport were continuing"

So definitely not a done deal - although a change of some sort could still happen.

Interestingly, I presume Sky could bid if they wanted as 1 of the packages being owned by Prime would probably still satisfy the conditions.

I suspect it’s very much a done deal in principle it’s just ironing out the details. DAZN are desperate to enter the market and their relative flop to date in Italy demonstrates more than ever that taking ownership of an incumbent with a strong, cross platform presence is the only way a business model will be viable for some time to come.

The devil is always in the detail - if they can't agree details then their will be no deal.

Having said that I suspect a deal will be done - just not as yet.

Totally agree with the last sentence - but don't expect OB to:D

Why would they not keep acquiring sports content? It's still an ongoing proposition and if they do sell or partner with someone (or keep if no buyer is found) they want to ensure they retain their sub base and have a strong and broad portfolio to get as much as they want for it…

Because talks are still ongoing and rights will continue to be retained, also renewing rights etc keeps BTsport attractive to potential buyers.

If you look on Digital Bit Rates today it look like Virgin has removed over 50 channels.

NOTE: They been remove due to DBR (Cable) has not updated since October 25th.
