Really, doesn't seem that long ago you were at uni, ugh we are all so old.

Speaking of being old, just when I was starting to feel really jaded about how selfish we'd all become it was heartening to see literally thousands of people doing the night marathon for shine, really has restored my faith but that's a minor mention considering it's raised fortunes for a great cause

Well I went before they increased the fees and changed the way you pay it back. He will have more debt and I believe they increased the interest rate as well.

However they also pay less per salary band than I did and the debt gets wiped out after 30 years I think. So a lot of people will never pay back the whole amount before it gets wiped. It's better to think of it as an additional tax rather than a debt.

As for mortgages etc. It's only considered in the sense you get less take home pay available for a mortgage. It won't appear in a credit check and it isn't considered a debt in the same way a car loan would be. You don't get debt collectors and so on.

Don't worry about this in the same way you would worry about other debt.

There was a good post from the money saving expert about this, I'll see if I can find it.

My friend and neighbour has just raised over £1500 for cancer research and the money is still coming in. How she raised the money is she got her hairdresser to shave off her hair and the hair is going to make a wig. All I can say is well done to her for raising such a amazing sum of money.

I got a phone call yesterday offering my operation on Sunday which I kindly accepted after confirming it was Sunday and not Monday. I have to go in for 8am so hopefully I might be one of the first on the list. I'm so nervous but at the same time looking forward to being pain free.

I'm so glad to hear this. I was sure that if you let them know how badly you were feeling they'd try to get things moving sooner but of course they won't know that unless they're told. Hopefully in a very short time your dodgy gall bladder will be no more and apart from a little post-operative discomfort, you'll feel so much better. :hugs:

Our happy thought is that we've just been told we will still receive some respite for Osem Jnr # 2 during the periods when he's on holiday from college. Lovely as he is, it's a 24/7 job caring for him so we're very relieved indeed that we'll be able to get a break from it when it matters most. :)

May the windows and doors of your new home open up to good luck and great fortune for your entire family.
Congratulations on your New Home
:)

I phoned the day surgery to ask if I could wear roll on deodorant as I know you can't wear the aerosol one they said no deodorant but they did say that I'm first to be taken tomorrow which I'm pleased about as I don't think I could stand waiting due to being nervous. I'm feeling mixed emotions today while I am excited at not experiencing gallbladder pain, I must admit I am putting a brave face on to my family I'm quite scared tbh. Just wish it was 8am tomorrow.

Thank you all for your kind wishes and comments.

Don't worry Weenie, I'd never been in hopsital prior to my operation so nobody was more anxious than I was. If it's the same set up as here, when they get you to the operating theatre preparation area, you'll see the anaesthetist, there'll be a slight prick in your arm and within seconds you'll be off to sleep and know nothing until it's all over a few hours later. Just don't go catching yourself a cold though because coughing and sneezing were incredibly painful for a day or two... ;)

ATB :hugs:

Thank you Osem you may not realise but it is helping me by letting me know your experience of this op. So a big thank you once again :)

My family have been great my hubby has taken the week of work, my eldest son has made arrangements for the following week to take his little brother to school and a neighbour is going to pick him from school on the day's that his big brother can't. My Mother in Law is having the wee one tonight and will drop him off tomorrow evening, I feel very blessed to have such a wonderful family and friends (that includes my CF friends) everyone has been great and I can't thank them enough.

Just had a phone call offering me a permie job in Yorkshire (I'm currently doing interim Senior IT Management in the East Midlands, which means I am away from home Mon-Fri), so a very happy bunny - my 3rd interview for the position was last Monday, so it was quite a quick turnaround.

Probably start in the New Year, to give my current employers a chance to get a replacement in and do a proper handover.

My wife, as you may expect, is very pleased - it's not been an easy last six months for her, with me being away through the week; now, at least, she has an end date in sight.

However, until I get a signed contract, it's not 'real'...

@ Hugh congratulations on the new job :)

@ Nash very beautiful part of Scotland is Inverness, maybe it was just too cold for good old Nessie ;)

---------- Post added at 13:17 ---------- Previous post was at 12:48 ----------

Well I need to to have this as a happy thought otherwise I will just feel really down and I'm not willing to be as low as I was yesterday as I basically cried most of the day not only did this upset hubby but it angered and upset my eldest son seeing his Mum so upset, I'm just grateful the wee one did not witness my melt down.

Today I phoned and spoke to the consultants secretary and she said that this should not have happened and will be looking into this for me and will get back to me in regards to this matter. I did say to her that I have sent a email to paitient affairs manager stating that while I was and still am disappointed due to this error, it has also taken a bed that someone that could have benefited from never mind the cost to the NHS my operation cancellation has cost. I did state that the day surgery was brilliant and Mr xxxxx looked truly disappointed in sending a patient away and having to cancel basically within 5 minutes of going into the operating room.

I need to focus on that everyone is doing their best to get my operation done asap and pray that things will be sorted soon.

@ nash I'm fine today and looking for the silver lining of yesterday's events and I've came up with one :) and that's at least I know what to expect on the day of my operation now example blood pressure taken, pre med given, etc so next time it should be less daunting and I will be prepared for disappointment should this situation happen again although I've prayed that it doesn't.

With a bit of luck the bed won't be needed and a lot of TLC at home will be all that's required. :)

What a lovely surprise den :)

I'm just chilling now and trying not to think about tomorrow morning, we will be leaving about 06:45 as I need to be there at 07:30. The wee one is off school this week (October break) so he is staying with his Grandma tonight in which I'm very grateful off.

I must say I've been getting spoiled today first thing this morning I woke up to breakfast in bed, then later on the wee one proudly told me I have helped you out today Mum by cleaning my room bless him, then later on when my eldest and his fiancée came in they gave me a Dove wash bag gift set although I do suspect that was my son's better half's idea.

Abseiled off the Titan Crane in Clydebank last week, its was an experience! 150Ft Raised over £300 for Alzheimer Scotland and my Employer will match up to £350 which is fantastic!

Also finally got my meeting with surgeon on Monday to get my sinuses sorted and remove the polyps and benign tumour.

Then finally I have been looking for my birth mother as was adopted when I was a few months old and have a great result, exchanged letters and photos through the adoption agency and I get to meet her next Thursday :) I have three half brothers who can't wait to meet me as well. Some bizarre coincidences as well in the info she told me.

Its such a crazy few months but I am super happy.

I only just found this out.

This little arrow is secretly very useful, especially if you’re driving a Hire car. It indicates the side of the vehicle on which the Fuel cap is located!

And that much larger red arrow just to the left indicates how much fuel's in the tank... ;)

Thank you all for your kind wishes. The nurse visited today and she is pleased with the way I'm healing. I have some bruising but very little tbh, she left some island dressing along with inadine dressing and if I have any problems I've just to phone the health center and ask for the treatment room.

I'm so grateful for our NHS.

Got the contract yesterday, will resign from my interim position tomorrow, and work my 4 weeks notice, then no more leaving on a Monday and getting back home on a Friday.

Yay!!! :dmonk::cleader::hyper:
