2nd 512K took 1187 ms = 431.3 KB/sec, approx 3554 Kbps, 3.47 Mbps
3rd 512K took 1421 ms = 360.3 KB/sec, approx 2969 Kbps, 2.9 Mbps
4th 512K took 1234 ms = 414.9 KB/sec, approx 3419 Kbps, 3.34 Mbps

Overall Average Speed = approx 3212 Kbps, 3.14 Mbps

not exactly 4mg is it? Oh well

Give it time. Everyone else in your area probably just upgraded and is trying to see how fast it will go ;)

Yea I was getting 2.7mb when i ahd zonelarm on you have to totally uninstall it and restart the pc, then i was gettin 3.9mb so simply turning off zonealarm does not work you have to totally uninstall it.

I also have had to uninstall zonealarm as with it installed I was limited to approx 2.7Mb/s. Uninstalled and I now get my full 4Mb/s (almost)...

I seriously doubt you have to uninstall it!

I've tried with ZoneAlarm switched off and are still getting only about 2.5Mbps. I think this is due to the NTL:Home 100 modem.

does anyone have the number i call to get a new modem - is it customer services or tech support? I'm not going to be fobbed off with this 'up to...' cr*p.

uninstall it and try.....you could always install it again afterwards.....

or download a linux livecd (knoppix) and surf to

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

and download SP2.......that is how I checked that it was not a network problem

You really do have to uninstall it I don't know why but simply turning it off does not work.

you may be able to stop/kill the "true vector" service (part of zonealarm). This doesn't get stopped when you just shutdown zonealarm.

Overall Average Speed = approx 3846 Kbps, 3.76 Mbps

now to install it again and compare...when turned on

2nd 512K took 1313 ms = 389.9 KB/sec, approx 3213 Kbps, 3.14 Mbps

4th 512K took 1172 ms = 436.9 KB/sec, approx 3600 Kbps, 3.52 Mbps

Overall Average Speed = approx 3253 Kbps, 3.18 Mbps

and when off

2nd 512K took 1282 ms = 399.4 KB/sec, approx 3291 Kbps, 3.21 Mbps

so yeah, for top speed uninstall it

I don't use a firewall, i just use a router for past year had no problems what so ever(No virus etc)

m8 uninstall it completely, I was in the same boat as you until i removed it from my PC.

Hmm this is not a problem I'd expect with Zone Alarm, sounds more the type of problem people get using Nortons or McAfee
