Movies 24 may close in 2022.

My sources has told me "The future of Movies 24 has got an question mark over it but no decision has been made on it as of yet."

I'd rebrand it as Sky Cinema Mix (with better films)

Tomorrow does look a good day for a deal or no deal with DAZN to be announced, for as Media Boy has mentioned, Q2 2021/22 results will be announced by BT.

They could just sell the Movies24 channels, though I can't see it happening.

The type of films they show are frowned upon by many, but there is still an audience, I know someone who has significant periods of watching a lot of it. Most of their content doesn't seem to have a UK outlet elsewhere, aside from the odd bit on Channel 5 daytime. There's an audience and library of content out there for whoever picks it up, should Movies24 close. Whereas the Christmas movie content that boosts their ratings significantly (relatively speaking) every year would be a natural fit for the Great! Movies Christmas channel during its yearly rebrand, Great! doesn't have a "TV movie" channel during the rest of the year anymore as it used to years ago in a previous incarnation.

Given many of the Sky-branded entertainment genre-named channels have similarly low ratings, and they are unlikely to shut those down any time soon, they may just rebrand the main Movies24 as Sky Romance & Mystery and close the Movies24+ channel.

But as a streaming platform having the wwe network content would be attractive for DAZN and WWE are looking at making deals.

Media Boy Sources has just told Media Boy HQ that DAZN wants to give away BT Sport's WWE rights off their books as DAZN are more interested in UFC.

But I have been told that ViacomCBS are looking into taking over the rights from BT Sport.

Sarcastic replies like that do no good - if people state things it is reasonable for others to ask for proof of what is obviously their opinion not fact.

Others are saying it may be announced tomorrow or in the near future.

Legendkiller2k knows things through work that they cannot talk about. They may have assumed that was widely known on this forum in that case and they were being asked to reveal something that would risk their employment.

So channel 5? ViacomCBS are basically channel 5 over here?

Channel 5 group already show weekly WWE programming in the UK after BT Sport have aired it - so would be an amendment to an existing rights deal.

We have just found the following on the Ofcom web site

Licensee for Baby TV is Baby Network Limited

So maybe that why Disney did not axe Baby TV when the Disney was being axe early this year.

Also Nat Geo Channels has no License listed on Ofcom web site....

Baby TV was inherited by Disney via the transfer and purchase of a majority of the 21st Century Fox assets, it's an international feed (hence why it hasn't closed) now broadcast from Spain, the licence was handed back in December 2020, before the Brexit transition period ended. Other reasons why it hasn't closed is because it's not a mainline Disney asset, has a different business model, and in many cases, requires a premium subscription.

The same above for National Geographic and National Geographic Wild, which now broadcasts from Spain since December 2020.

The channels are probably still managed from London, as playout can be managed remotely.

According to BT's CEO, the DAZN deal isn't done.
