Re: [Update] Windows 10 Discussion

My partner updated the drivers this morning and the option to put the computer to sleep is not there anymore once she restarted the computer after the driver updates and she has since restarted it several more times and there is still no option to put the computer to sleep on the computer.

Any help would be welcomed please.

I have W10 installed on my laptop, fully updated but running classic shell. Sleep, Hibernate etc are still available.

I only ever shut down my laptop with Windows 10.
If I use Sleep or Hibernate, you don't get the Bitlocker protection, as the drive is not locked at this point.
Not sure if this is normal or not, but that's why I always shut down.

Besides with an SSD the boot time to the Logon screen is fairly rapid ... :)

It seems to have worked itself out now after a couple more restarts but thanks nevertheless.

If it happens again it may be worth checking the Power Options. I had problems with "Hibernate" not being available when I installed Win 10 on my laptop and Googling I found the following link:

http://winaero.com/blog/add-hibernat...in-windows-10/

Although this link is for hibernate the instructions take you to the Shutdown Settings options. Hope this helps.

Never switch off a device while it is upgrading. You could break it.

Well I did when my lappy tried it. TBQH I'd rather have a brick than W10.

Microsoft has agreed to pay a Californian woman $10,000 (£7,500) after an automatic Windows 10 update left her computer unusable.

Teri Goldstein said her Windows 7 computer had automatically tried to update itself to Windows 10 without her permission.

She said the update had made her machine unstable, leaving her unable to use it to run her business.

Here's hoping many more cases follow.

Going to incur someone's wrath here, but .....
I've updated 5 laptops and 1 PC without any problems. A mix of Acer, Medion, Fujitsu and eMachines. Granted, all of them were upgraded, and then wiped and a clean install done afterwards.
Still, I can't fault the Win10 installations on any of them.
Maybe I've just been lucky.
