Fact is Virgin have dragged their heels for so long now on HD that Sky now have an unassailable lead over them. 6 channels is obviously better than the 0.5 they have now, but they should be adding 20 or 30 of them, and getting EVERY new HD channel that launches on day one. They need to be agressive.

The lack of any HD movie channels is obviously a huge omission too, as is the lack of any of Sky's content. Sky One for all it's brain dead, lowest common denominator tabloid sewage does ocassionally show some good US sourced drama, which must be seen in HD.

Go count hte amoutn of hd channels that are not directly owned by sky you will find it about 12maybe 15 so the rest are owned by sky do you honestly think there going ot give them up they have basically told ofcom who said to give them up to bugger off, why not complain to sky and tell them to give them to other broadcaster at a reaonable price and stop tying all new hd channels ot exculisive deals with them then maybe virign might have a chance

i swapped from sky hd to vm about a month ago and i do not miss sky one bit. I know that vm will get more and more hd channels at some point but the sd pictures are so much better on vm! they really are. But i would like national geo in hd.....

edit...i meant to say that the vod is just great, love it. Also the ablity to record 2 and watch 1. I sound like a vm sales rep

exactly ALL the Sky channels are of course owned by Sky and also all the Fox \ News Corp channels are part of Sky too, which I think includes all the Discovery Channels. That;s why VM can't get any VOD rights to a lot of Fox shows etc as Sky has them even though they can't use VOD.

HD is still a niche market too and VM just don't have the financial muscle that Sky have to run HD at a loss for a few years to get the subscribers

Setanta Sports UK fall out: Eurosport picks up GP2.

Eurosport has continued picking up rights formally held by Setanta Sports.

This latest set of rights is the motor racing's GP2 series and the deal is for the remainder of this season and the two following seasons.

GP2 is seen as the feeder category for Formula One and Eurosport will begin its coverage this weekend with the Nurenburg event in Germany.

There's an excellent line in that article which shows just why people need to be patient over HD: "The deal, which took 18 months"
These things aren't nowhere near as simple as getting a few people in a board room and hashing out a deal in afternoon like some people think.

Setanta Sports UK fall out: UFC 100 UK channel named.

UFC 100 will air LIVE and FREE on Sky channel 433, the mixed martial arts promotion have confirmed.

And viewers will be able to catch all the action from the biggest fight night of the year completely free of charge.

Anyone without a Sky subscription need not worry as every punch, kick and submission will be shown on the UFC's official website.

Nope I'm happy if thats the selection Andrew:), I never expected that Sky would freely give VM access to their golden egg, thats always been fantasy and wishful thinking.
From the beginning I've always put Discovery, History, Eurosport and Nat-Geo on my HD wish-list and if the reports are true it looks like we are going to get them, credit where its due if this comes off VM will have done a good job...at last.;)
