Chelsea fans have hatched a plot to get their own back on bungling referee Tom Henning Ovrebo - by stopping Norway winning the Eurovision Song Contest.

Tevez to join Liverpool?

http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage...cle2423893.ece

It wouldn't surprise me if that happened.

I almost clicked the link then Russ!! :p:

I don't particularly want him, although we are needing a few players. There has also been talk of Tommy Mascherano and Xabi Alonso going, but i'm hoping neither do.

Funny how there's no direct quotes from anyone in that article, even though the title says 'Tevez: I'll play for Kop'...

A posse of clubs are expected to check out Hamilton's highly-rated teenager James McCarthy on Wednesday, skysports.com understands.

McCarthy is one of the most sought-after players in Britain after emerging at Hamilton during the last few seasons.
Portsmouth had a bid for the 18-year-old turned down last week and a number of other Premier League sides as well as Championship clubs are tracking the skilful midfielder.

A number of scouts are expected to be in attendance at New Douglas Park on Wednesday to cast an eye over the prodigious youngster as they weigh up summer moves for McCarthy.

Hamilton are facing a real fight to keep hold of McCarthy with the club unlikely to be able to resist a big-money offer for the Republic of Ireland Under 21 international.

The player's agent, Willie McKay, has admitted a host of sides are tracking the PFA Scotland Young Player of the Year.

"The interest in James has been unbelievable," McKay told skysports.com.
"A number of clubs in the Premier League and Championship have asked about his situation.
"The likes of Everton, Portsmouth, Tottenham, Newcastle and Sunderland are keen on him and I believe a number of sides are going to have him watched on Wednesday against Falkir

Lancashire side Burnley beat Reading 3 - 0 on aggregate to go through to the play off finals.

Let's hope and pray that at the end of the football season, we don't have clubs going to the wall, We have to have a cap on wages, before it goes crazy, we have clubs in the lower leagues, that cannot pay wages, yet in the top hald, we have clubs paying players over £100.000 per week, which is madness in the present climate.

Much as I would like to see that I think it is something that needs to come down from UEFA and FIFA otherwise it would put us at a disadvantage in Europe.

What I would like to see is more English players employed lower down the leagues, there are too many cheap imports that aren't really any better than the english players, and due to all the transfers these days the top clubs just bring someone in from abroad rather than buying from the lower leagues. Going even further you could allow clubs 5 transfers from their own league and only two from abroad each season but don't think the EU would go for that one

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has been named the 2009 Football Writers' Association Footballer of the Year.

I'm suprised he's won this, purely because in my opinion he hasn't been Liverpools best player this season let alone the best in the league. I cannot believe Vidic hasn't won one of the awards so far, it seems defensive performances go un-noticed when it comes to individual awards.

I think they're spot on for what it counts.
