Cheers guys. Jnr did rush his test, I wanted him to get plenty of experience before getting out there alone and I'll be putting him down for a Pass Plus course for his birthday.

His reward for passing? A £500 hike in his car insurance premium...

As for Osem Jnr # 2 yes he did very well and he'd have loved the outdoor/camping thing as he's that sort of kid. Very practical and interested to experience new things. He laughs in the face of storms, snow, ice etc. The worse it is out, the more he likes it lol.

Excellent well done boy's you must be so proud of your boy's Osem they really are a credit to you :)

My eldest is on holiday with his better half to Gran Canaria today just waiting for a call to say they have arrived safely & this time next week the wee one will be on his way to China and we will have the house to ourselves for 8 whole day's. I think it will be strange as we have not experienced the boy's away from home at the same time ever so for the first time in 24 years we will have the house to ourselves.

I had to laugh at my eldest this morning before he left for the airport he said he was so happy and I said so would I be if I were going on holiday and he said "no it's not just because I'm going on holiday it's also I won't see my wee brother for 4 weeks Mum"

Now that is a good piece of news nash. After all the problems you have had with this neighbour you deserve neighbours that will allow you to live happily in your own home. :tu:

Fingers crossed that you never have to experience such awful neighbours again I swear when mine moves the street will have a party I know we will, maybe even be tempted to get the flags out ;) when she leaves LOL until then I can dream at least we have a interdict out on her so she really does not bother us anymore but she has started her nonsense with the guy two doors up.

Pretty impressive first trip, only downside is that schippol is a few miles out of Amsterdam as that's a great city in its own right, still I'm sure he'll have a great time, it's not every day you go to China where as you can pop over to Holland when ever the mood takes literally.

Glad they're gone and not creating havoc anymore, only downside is they're now somewhere else wrecking that neighbourhood. Still it's not your concern any more, you've endured your bit so let's hope you get some decent folk in

The wee one arrived safely about 2 am our time and 09 local time. Today's adventure for the wee one is visit - Temple of Heaven and market or local park, time permitting then Overnight at Rainbow Hotel.

Yes I was up all night tracking the plane and did not like it at all when tracking was not available on his flight then to make matter's worse for me it said landing in 3 minutes only then to flash up delayed landing, landing now in 41 minutes those were the longest 41 minutes of my life I swear.

It sure is TD this is the only holiday he will be going as we decided this would be a opportunity of a lifetime for him and tbh we could never afford a family holiday of this scale.

So it's sunny Scotland for me & hubby this year, it so funny my school trip was a day trip to Largs LOL

Friends and family are asking where and what the wee one is doing today so I thought I would post daily updates on his adventure to my CF friends.
Today he is going on a guided visit to The Great Wall and then onto Summer Palace and finally to the Wangfujing Night Market where all pupils have been instructed to check with their tour guide before eating or buying anything.

My niece is doing her Duke of Edinburgh (Bronze) Award scheme today/tomorrow.

I said she should get a SheWee, but she wouldn't have none of it.

As she has Scoliosis, she is limited to what she can carry and any extra stuff she should normally carry will go into the back of the support car.

Just starting our 2nd week in north Devon. Although the weather has been a bit crap it seems that we have missed the heaviest of the rain.

We're staying @ Eastacott Barton ( http://www.eastacottbarton.co.uk/ ) which is by far the best place we have ever stayed in the UK. Had family with us for the first week, which was great & now the 2nd week will be a much more chilled & slower paced.

Looks amazing enjoy your chill week :)

Today's agenda for the wee one is Guided visit to Tiananmen Square and Forbidden City.

High-speed train to Jinan— Capital of Shandong Province: 500km 1h 35 min journey. Overnight at Shungeng. The school has posted some pictures of them and seeing my son experiencing these sights has been truly worth the sacrifice of our family holiday. A memory & experience that will last a lifetime.

Looks like a nice place al.

We were up in the local beer garden today when doting parents and evil brat came out who promptly started wreaking things. Anyway brat is summoned in to get dinner which he places on the outside table and despite being told by doting parent to sit and eat decides to go back inside anyway. We did say to him the seagulls would come and get it but he went inside.

And the seagulls did come and devour the lot. Brat comes out and asks where his food has gone. We took great joy in saying that the seagulls had had it.

Karma is a wonderful thing. :)

It's quite a slow day for the wee one today to which I'm sure the kids and teacher's will be grateful for. Today their adventure consists of Visit Zhucheng #1 High School. Drive to Tai’an city. I think they needed a chill out day tbh as when I'm on the school blog/checking emails the kids seem to be looking very tired now.

Not long till Thursday when my eldest is home :hyper: and we have nearly finished his room I have changed his colour theme from Electric Blue walls to Magnolia, so now instead of all blue, it is now cream, black & grey bedding, cream & black rug which looks far better IMO, I really hated the electric blue colour theme.

No he did not but his fiancée did as we were in on the new colour scheme & change of colour together LOL

The wee one would have us changing him room all the time if he could, whereas his big brother could not care less what his room looked like as long as there is a bed, tv, tivo box and heating.

Just another up date on the wee one and his trip. Today he it was planned to climb part of Mt Tai – this is regarded as the 1st of the 5 sacred mountains in China.
Then the plan was to spend some time at the Kindergarten, where some funds were raised to help the Kindergarten supply educational toys this was done through coffee morning, sponsored walk etc as well as all the children taking with them a shoe box filled with things like crayons, colouring book, stickers etc.

Then a coach transfer to Qufu-Confucius hometown, where they will spend the night to rest for the next days adventure :) I'm pleased to say in the recent pictures that have been sent the wee one is looking less tired.

Good luck mark, don't worry about zero hour contracts either, if you're working to a rota and do similar or additional hours each month they're not worth the paper their written on. I'm on one, have been for about three years, my company just got sick of idiots taking them to tribunal and introduced them. I did 332.5 hours last month, not entirely through choice but I normally do 280 odd quite happily, if you're good at your job and work for a half decent company you have nothing to fear from these contracts

Thanks. Stock taking, going around ASDA, M&S or Waitrose and counting what they have on the shelf. I was so good on the training this morning that while the others were still doing one aisle, they put me on another aisle on my own to go through it.

@ weenie, lovely to see you so happy. One more sleep as my grandson says. :D Seems incredible being able to track a plane virtually anywhere in the world. Technology is a marvellous thing.

weenie 27-06-2016 19:16

Re: The Happy Thought Thread Part 4

It sure is Jo, hubby has said that I have not to track the plane/flights all night like I did when he was going to China and I have promised him that I won't but saying that I don't think I will be able to sleep either so I can't promise him that I will not have sneaky peaks at where the wee one is.

weenie 28-06-2016 04:13

Re: The Happy Thought Thread Part 4

The wee one has just landed at Amsterdam :) I guess I never kept my promise been up all night tracking the plane. Next flight to track is (KL1277) ... KLM Amsterdam to Edinburgh as I ain't going to bed now. It's so good to know the wee one will be home in about 5 hours now.

The wee one is home and had a bath, something to eat and is now in his own bed sleeping :) and I can now relax and chill for the rest of the day & maybe have a wee nap myself.

GULP. Got a phone call at half 5, asking if I was free to start working in the morning. I said yes, got to be at the office for 6 in the morning. Tiny bit scared but also looking forward to it. Means being in bed before 10 though as got to be up at half 4 so I have time to get awake before my taxi gets here at half 5.

Thanks den and weenie, ugh I don't think I can cope with seeing the world at half 4 every morning. Work was good, got the hang of it and must remember to take my own pen with me next time.

Whatever happens, tomorrow is a day off. Collapsing on the sofa with a pizza for tea, then bed. Nice relaxing bath tomorrow morning. Might appreciate it more tomorrow.

A neighbour's towering leylandii are being cut. A "hedge" 10 metres wide 14 metres high.

The council had given the house owner 56 days to reduce them to 2 metres height. and remove any branches overhanging the gulley.

Today is day 52.

My letter to the council asking for access to the locked gulley they straddle worked. The owner thought he could get away with them as they were, but they are in contravention of the Highways Act as the gulley belongs to the council.

He must also unblock the gulley to the rear of his home.

And his immediate neighbour must replace the gulley fencing and paving he removed.

RESULT!!!! Sod the High Hedges Law and it's £360 fee for inspection. More light for my garden (they used to shade it for around 3 hours a day).

:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Re: The Happy Thought Thread Part 4

Big problem with Leylandii is that they take very badly to being lopped. Yew is a much better choice as it can be kept in check without turning brown.

Re: The Happy Thought Thread Part 4

I believe they were planted 30 years ago by a neighbour who didn't like his immediate neighbours' large shed. He wanted them to "screen off the monstrosity".

Pettiness, and a touch racist if you knew the rest of the story....

Why not get a slow cooker, all self contained.
