Maybe you should go over to some of the other threads on CF where pessimism must be in some of the members DNA's.;)

I find the right wing balances out the left wing, isn't that how a rational person makes a decision?

So how much storage you think 4K and non 4K TiVo will have, well currently 1tb gives 125 hours HD, 500 SD and then only 31 hours 4K so that not great especially to last 6 years so

1tb = 31 hours 4K 125 hours HD, 500 SD
2tb = 62 hours 4K 250 hours HD, 1000 SD
3tb = 93 hours 4K 375 hours HD, 1500 SD

That is based on the current Tivo which is mpeg 2. We don't know, but I suspect the 4k will be delivered as mpeg3 which will effectively give more storage space.

Once all the mpeg 2 standard boxes are gone and SA V+ boxes gone, all content could go to mpeg3 and give overall more storage space..

The TiVO, Samsung V+ & VHD are dual standard DVB-C (MPEG2) & DVB-C2 (MPEG4) capable. Sky Cinema HD is now distributed in MPEG4 on VM, along with some OD content. Haven't noticed recordings from Sky Cinema HD using any less disk space.

Although I don't doubt we will get it, I yet to see any official link from Virgin that we are indeed getting it unless someone (Mod Edit)post an official link :)

Do not offer reps to others,it is not permitted under the T&Cs

I said in the stb thread that I was suspicious whether VM would release a PVR at all.

VM/Liberty have said their new service is cloud based. How much cloud based remains to be seen.

If we had no storage space then what is the point to series link + as it's purely just a reminder system, if they do that I'll just stick with slow clunky TiVo because at least I can record or even maybe go to sky

The transport stream info I was sent at the end of last month showed that all of the broadcast streams were still using MPEG2. Although, as you say, MPEG4 was being used for some OD content.

Well, gaps were left in the Sky Sports EPG listings at 507 and 517 for some reason.
