Talent surges to Oaks glory.

http://www.attheraces.info/article.a...e&sub=&day=Fri

Quote:

Talent led home a one-two for trainer Ralph Beckett in the Investec Oaks at Epsom as the 20-1 shot, partnered by Richard Hughes, beat her better-fancied stablemate Secret Gesture by three and three-quarter lengths.

She appeared to break a touch slowly and was towards the back of the field throughout the early stages of the Classic, while Jim Crowley kicked for home two furlongs out aboard her stable companion.

Talent looked a little uncomfortable on the course and did not get the best of passages when switched wide to launch her challenge down the middle of the track, but she produced a devastating burst of speed to poke her head in front inside the distance and galloped away for an impressive success. The Lark was third and Moth fourth.

'Afraid' Dettori back in business

http://www.attheraces.info/article.a...siness&day=Fri

Quote:

Frankie Dettori has admitted he is a "a bit afraid" for the future but is game for the challenge of rebuilding his career after serving a six-month ban.

The 42-year-old returned to the saddle for the first time since completing his suspension for a positive drugs test in France with three rides at Epsom on Friday.

Although Dettori failed to trouble the judge, with a fifth place the best his mounts could muster, the six-times champion jockey was just pleased to back on track and is now keen to draw a line under the darkest chapter of his riding career.

He said: "I want to stop thinking about it. I've been through it - the ups, downs and in betweens. I'm delighted to be back, what's in the past is in the past, I've served my time and it's time to crack on.

Abbey seeking Coronation hat-trick

http://www.attheraces.info/article.a...=&sub=&day=Sat

Quote:

St Nicholas Abbey will bid to make history at Epsom when he attempts a third straight success in the Investec Coronation Cup.

His wins in 2011 and 2012 saw the Aidan O'Brien-trained entire join five other horses - Warrsan, Triptych, Petite Etoile, The White Knight and Pretty Polly - as a dual winner.

The most recent of those victories came with a four-and-a-half-length beating of Ed Dunlop's Red Cadeaux under Joseph O'Brien, who has also won the Dubai Sheema Classic and Breeders' Cup Turf on the money-spinning son of Montjeu.

Battle lines drawn by O'Brien

http://www.attheraces.info/article.a...;Brien&day=Sat

Quote:

Joseph O'Brien is hoping his loyalty to Battle Of Marengo can yield an Investec Derby double at Epsom this afternoon.

O'Brien had the choice of five horses trained at Ballydoyle by his father Aidan, although only three have a realistic chance of glory.

Battle Of Marengo has been beaten once in six starts, but not when ridden by O'Brien, who believes he has a good chance of following up last year's triumph with Camelot after winning two recognised trials in Ireland.

Cheers Den. My parents back garden goes on to the race course and they speak to a lot of the jockeys and horse breeders, so will see if any of their tips match up with yours :)

Ruler of the World wins for Aidan O'Brien.

Ruler of the World, a 7-1 shot ridden by Ryan Moore won the Epsom Derby to give trainer Aidan O'Brien his fourth success in the race.

The favourite Dawn Approach never settled and despite taking the lead up the hill he faded badly and finished well down the field.

Libertarian (12-1) finished second for trainer Elaine Burke and William Buick with Galileo Rock (25-1) in third.

"He was unbeaten coming here and is a great horse," said a delighted O'Brien.

Coronation treble for St Nick.

http://www.attheraces.info/article.a...e&sub=&day=Sat

Quote:

St Nicholas Abbey completed a historic hat-trick in terrific style as he became the first horse to win the Investec Coronation Cup at Epsom for a third time.

Aidan O'Brien's top-class six-year-old was settled well behind the pacesetters Chapter Seven and Chamonix and moved up smoothly to take the lead at the two-furlong pole in the Group One contest.

Jockey Joseph O'Brien had no worries after that as St Nicholas Abbey (30-100 favourite) quickened away and was always holding his market rival Dunaden, passing the post with three and three-quarter lengths to spare.

Juvenile first for Stars.

http://www.attheraces.info/article.a...e&sub=&day=Sun

Quote:

Sea The Stars has his first runner on the track as Juvenile Lead makes his racecourse debut at Leicester on Monday.

A winner of eight of his nine racecourse starts, Sea The Stars is widely regarded as one of the greatest Flat horses of all time.

The John Oxx-trained son of Cape Cross enjoyed a spectacular three-year-old campaign in 2009, winning six Group Ones in as many months including the 2000 Guineas, the Derby and the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe.

He sired 118 foals during his first season as a stallion, with Juvenile Lead the first to grace the track, kicking off over six furlongs in Leicester's Pytchley Maiden Stakes.

Toronado set to storm Palace.

http://www.attheraces.info/article.a...e&sub=&day=Sun

Quote:

Toronado, Richard Hannon's impressive Craven Stakes winner, is on course to redeem his reputation in the St James's Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot.

The colt headed to the Qipco 2000 Guineas viewed as a major threat to Dawn Approach but was brushed aside and came home only fourth. Connections are convinced he was not at his best that day and are hopeful he will show his true colours at the Royal meeting.
