Sky Max will move to 109 when it rebrands to Sky One. This opens up slot 111 on the EPG, which is ideal for Sky Atlantic to sit next to Sky Witness, just like it does on Sky.

Sky Original drama on Sky Atlantic typically gets shown on Virgin Media anyway via Sky Showcase, and as Sky Showcase is closing down, they need a different channel to show it on that's accessible to us.

Without all the newer HBO content, Sky Atlantic is now of considerably less value, so this gives them less justification to withhold it from Virgin Media.

The Strangest thing about all of this, they never did it in Ireland at all.

VM would've announced it long before now.

tbh , Virgin don't really announce anything in advance anymore, it just happens , I wouldn't expect HBO Max app to be any different

I can't see it happening, but it would be good if they did. Incidentally, the new material being shown on Sky Atlantic has not been shown on Sky Showcase.

I have seen some news from a Media Boy UK source but info was given under NDA.

The programme shifts are starting. I have Last week tonight with John Oliver on series link on Sky comedy 112. There was a scheduled broadcast due on 16 February which has now disappeared. Today a new broadcast is showing on Sky Max 111 where it wasn't shown before.

Another subscription required.
Not sure it's going to be a channel as such, just an app in the same way as Netflix and Amazon Prime.

I think the HBO Max app will probably be on 360 and Stream only, like Disney+, Paramount+ and Apple TV.

Glad we're getting the app, although it almost certainly will not included in packages like on Sky, which is a launch partner.

Interesting news that Discovery+ will remain as a standalone app with only TNT Sports content moving over to HBO Max.

Same as Germany & Italy where Discovery+ app still exists, there is Discovery content on HBO Max in those countries aswell.

They appear to have agreements posy split

My point was that Discovery content won't be moving, except for sports. Which is a departure from what has happened in the rest of Europe.

Discovery+ will remain a standalone service and is expected to move out of the Warner Bros. ecosystem when Discovery Global spins out as a standalone company later this year.

HBO Max will launch in the UK on March 26.

£4.99 with ads, £5.99 with ads but downloads, £9.99 no ads, £14.99 4K, £30.99 if you also want sport…

An agreement between the two companies means a membership bundle including both Now and HBO Max will be available, which all existing Now Entertainment subscribers will automatically be moved to.
There is no mention of it being available on Virgin Media.

---------- Post added at 18:54 ---------- Previous post was at 18:47 ----------

Apparently it will also be available via Amazon Prime (unclear how).

It might also turn out to be somewhat short lived, if Netflix take over HBO.

As posted earlier, it's already confirmed that HBO Max will be available on Virgin Media but likely only as a standalone add on (like Disney+, Paramount+ and Apple TV are) rather than being included in any of the bundles.
