I think it would be a good idea to put all FTA satellite channels in addition to the Freeview channels into the M package. This would appeal to those not interested in Pay TV and/or who want an easy way to record programmes and would allow VM to compete by offering the best of both FTA platforms.

As I have said on many occasions, joining a platform is not free to the broadcaster. FTA via Freeview & Satellite provides the most population coverage for the amount they are paying out.

VM may not be allowed to do so. Why would freesat for example, a rival company to VM, allow VM free reign to all their channels?

I don't think it's in Freesat's gift to block the channels from Virgin - Freesat don't own them.

Exactly. Freesat is simply an EPG for all channels that are broadcasting FTA on DSAT.

Fair enough. I just assumed they would have some of the Sky owned channels which freeview don't have. I must do more research before posting.:o:

Huge rumour. VM are looking at allowing on demand content to be downloaded directly to the TiVo box and stored on the harddrive similar to Skys OD service.
They will be keeping the instant on demand service but a option will be introduced to record it to the box.
