6.7% is just the line rental increase from £14.99 to £15.99 - VM really must think we're stupid.

Good point, I hadn't noticed that. But my overall rise works out at about 5.25%, and as I got a reduction in my bill from retentions recently I have decided to stay put as my new bill will be still less than before the reduction.

Ah thanks - was on the 25th. It's a better deal than I first thought then!

It would only take 5% of VM customers to be on BB only which is not having a rise (had one a couple of months ago) and they could charge the rest 12% and still only have a 6.4% average.

Not saying these are the actual figures but just showing how easy it is to use statistics to make figures look better.

I only joined VM in October on the Essentials package (with 10/month partner employer discount) + a 6 month XL TV for 8 pound/month so currently pay 38.99/month. My increase will be 5.50 a month (and after 6 months 7/month) - needless to say I'm not impressed at all. I think that's quite a high % increase.

I rang VM to enquire and the retentions people said there was nothing they could do other than offer a 20 pound credit - wow. so I've given my notice and will leave in 30 days. short and sweet relationship with VM lol

shame as I like tivo

Got my email today about price increase. Going up £5.75. I only boosted my broadband a week ago by paying £7.50 so feel annoyed.
Contacted retentions who claim nothing can be done as I have a loyalty discount and if they remove that my charges will be higher so put cancellation in hoping they call me before the month notice.

Before I do, can anyone suggest if what I pay is fair/high/low?

With the price increase I will be getting for £68.24
2 TiVO with XL (HD)
120MB broadband
Weekend calls.

Your package is the equivalent of the Premiere Collection with 120Mb instead of 60Mb and a second TiVo instead of a V HD.

The Premiere Collection is £67.99 after the price increase. The price differential between the two BBs is £7.50 and the second TiVo is £5 more than a V HD.

For £68.24, you are getting a package with a standard price of £80.49 - I, personally, think that represents good value.

Perhaps Virgin Media will allow your cancellation to go through.

Got my letter today.

Increase of £6.25. Currently pay £71.04, so increase of nearly 9%.

That's a pretty hefty increase.

Got my letter through, £5.75 increase. On premiere collection with phone upgraded to XL. Also paid line rental saver in August so technically the £1 line rental increase is irrelevant for now. Not overly happy about this but I'm mid contract and don't want to leave VM.

Phoned to query the rise and was immediately apologised to as letters went out with the wrong price increase on.
Asked what my price will be and was told 'I don't know'. Ok getting angry now
Finally got told it was £5, asked for a breakdown between services and was told it's a package price increase.
Quizzed her about the £1 line rental increase which should not apply to me for now and was told it did. How I kept calm I don't know.
In summary I threw numbers and maths at her and it finished by her saying my increase was actually 1p. Felt sorry for her and I'm going to call back at some point as I doubt it will be 1p

Not the best customer service experience so the fight goes on

Was hunting around looking for my letter until I realised it was an email that they sent me.

They mention that With Virgin Media you can get the full sports line-up, including all of the Sky Sports channels – plus we've just added Premier Sports too. Not on my current package I wouldn't, I would therefore need to upgrade costing more money, slight letter con there I think.

I suppose though that £4.50 is just part of the rising costs these days, that doesn't mean to say that I'm happy about it.

Having negotiated a £20 discount for two years on my VIP package just before BT Sports joined VM, I'm not too fussed about the increase.

I'm really happy with the service. :)

shugg mcglummfer 11-12-2013 16:17

9.3% increase!

Mine is going up by 9.37%. Only take TV so going from £32 to £35! Ridiculous. If there was an alternative, I'd tell them where to stick their V+ box.
