I fail to see how more live streaming channels shows that they care less than Sky about streaming.

Plus of course Sky Go has on demand, because (apart from Channel 4) every on demand channel they offer on the app, Sky operate.

Sky allow you to stream over 3g/4g and let the customer choose if they wisb to do so. Many have the so called unlimited data on their mobile, like the Three contract I am on. There is no reason I can see for Virgin not to allow their customers to do the same. Probably comes down to them not investing in this area as the lack of android app shows. Which comes backto my original question about how much VM are bothered about offering streaming to it's customers

.

Are you sure VM offer more streaming channels?

The audience availability on different platforms and networks tells me they are not serious about streaming

Disney Channel , Universal channel , Fox (News Corp owned not BSKYB) , Syfy , Cartoon Network , Boomerang and Cartoonito ?

Virgin: 77 on PC, 53 on iOS (22 difference being only Sky channels).

Sky: 48 on PC, 39 on mobile.

I scrolled through the 3 pages of 'showcase' on demand and they were all Sky ___ or 4oD, so yeah my bad MM.

Probably when they finally sort out E! HD which shouldn't be too far off.

...because the Samsung runs Android and not Apple's IOS.

The answer is no, nobody can explain it. Over a year ago the then ceo said they have the app and it works, towards the end of last year a go live date of the first part of this year was given. Yet still nothing.

Thanks for your most helpful response. Unlike the prev poster, at least you tried.

Actually the previous poster was more accurate. Both iOS and Android are 2 different operating systems. Much like how a lot of Windows applications don't work on a Mac. It's the exact same thing.

The android one has to be developed, however they are clearly not 100% happy with it to release it yet. Be it there is a problem or something else.

More accurate? I don't think the question was "why can't I use an ios app on an android machine?", I think it was "why isn't there an android app?".

Yes, more accurate, it is the most simple and basic answer. The way it was questioned was why cant the iOS app work on Android?

Also you said the former CEO had a "working app" about a year ago. Well TVAnywhere was announced November 7th 2012, with the words "an android app coming soon"...

No, the "way it was questioned" was "can anyone explain why...?" and I'm the only one who gave an answer to that specific question, on the basis of my understanding of the question, which the op has confirmed was correct. The answer is no, they can't. And further, Virgin aren't even trying to anymore.
