You still get the full game. The only difference is that you're also now beta testing it so if it glitches out you can't complain.

Bought it in the end as it is a good price for digital and it was the best game ever that I played as a teen.

Well its not gone down to well with the PC users on the Frontier forums, not only have the Xbox one users only paid half price for the full game but they also get the next update well before PC. I will admit i am not to happy that FD has signed up for good old Microsoft $. Now they have allowed Micro$oft access they will never have control of content in the game going forward. Bet you they role it out on Ps4 next and give them an all new update with the promise of extra content for PC by the end of the year like they have just done with the Xbox role out. Best bit is they have not even fixed all the bugs in the latest power play update. Some are saying it was rolled out early complete with bugs to try and fend off a major backlash from the PC users. FD made this announcement about the Xbox one exclusive content and they now have the backlash they expected and deserve in my mind.

Wonder how much it is for access to Star Citizen

I spent countless hours playing Frontier: Elite II on the Amiga, usually with (classic) Metallica blasting out as my soundtrack.

I can't get passed the training in ED, I can't seem to destroy the canisters with the gun, it does nothing?

I just got close and shot it that way. Also make sure you're targeting with Y.

assuming the same as the pc, indeed target first then attack.

But not TOO close as the guns converge if you get too close you'll shoot past them.

So I have just gone through the training in ED on the Xbox One, the problem now is I keep getting 'Load Failed' every time I try to start my first ever game in Solo or Open Play mode, has anyone seen this on the X1 version?

Taking into account that it's a beta of an unfinished game, it's pretty good. I'm really enjoying it so far.
