Good, you've been talking bollocks throughout.

I suggest you make an appointment with a professional to talk through the issues you have with women.

:D

I'm even more convinced that to get true justice that both accuser and the defendant/s in rape cases should be anonymous.

Agreed, it might however put a spanner in the works for CPS/Police who seem to love to leak names in order to go fishing.

As I said a few pages back a good compromise would be that suspects get anonymity by default but if the police can present a clear public interest case to a judge then they can name them publicly. The judge would have advice to use such powers rarely and only when there is an obvious need (i.e Rolf Harris, Saville). This would allow most suspects anonymity but address the cases where we're talking about a possible serial abuser/rapist.

Apparently, his girlfriend's father (Karl Massey) celebrated the fact that he was found not guilty and offered to underwrite any financial sponsorship losses to Oldham FC.

Seems odd, as either way he was unfaithful to his daughter!!

Oh dear - looks like Ched and family are going after people who dare to have a different opinion than the jury now. You would have thought he would want to keep his head down and get on with his life.

Meh you have to accept the verdict of the court. If you say someone is guilty of rape and they've already been found not guilty then it's libelous/slanderous.

There are times you may not like it but if you go down the path of society second guessing guilt then you're going to cause more suffering and undermine justice. You would create a situation where going to court is itself a indication of guilt. It defeats the point.

Not to mention we weren't in the court. We are less equipped to judge the case than the jury.

The same goes for the people making allegations against the woman with no evidence what-so-ever by the way.

Well if she's said nothing wrong she'll be fine. If on the other hand she's said something slanderous on national TV he'll have a case because it'll have been heard by millions of people. She's entitled to her opinion but expressing it in such a public manner is always going to carry a risk. It'll be interesting to see how ITV's lawyers react and whether what she said will be edited out of any repeat showings.

I don't think she did though, the video is here?

The more this footage is viewed (and I haven't seen it and don't want to) or quoted, I'd have thought the better his case will be if it's ultimately decided that he has been slandered/libelled.

It's on the Daily Mirrors website, so his beef would be with them as well as Gloria I assume?

Correct, the more an item is viewed, the worse it is deemed to be by the courts.

Looks like its the father of his fiancé who has made the complaint.

It'll be with anyone who publishes it but some will have wider audiences and deeper pockets than others. I wouldn't be surprised if nothing comes of this but it is tricky territory and there's always the risk of losing and having to pay the other side's costs...

Tomorrow's Afternoon Play on Radio 4 appears to be based on this case.

'The Interogation' is about a Premier League footballer accused of rape, who discovers that his skill, wealth and fame make no odds in a police station.
