Re: FIFA World Cup 2010 South Africa
I normally watch non-England matches purely for the atmosphere and the hope of seeing something special that's been saved up for the World Cup but I just can't seem to concentrate to get into the other games this time around.

France captain Patrice Evra has already blamed the noise generated by the vuvuzelas, which has been likened to the drone of thousands of bees, for his side's poor showing in their opening group game against Uruguay, which finished goalless. Good news ahead? South Africa's World Cup organising chief Danny Jordaan may ban vuvuzelas from inside stadiums after complaints from broadcasters and supporters. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/foot...10/8737455.stm |
Re: FIFA World Cup 2010 South Africa
I have just heard on the radio that Ledley King is out of the World Cup.
I can't find any stories on the web however !! http://www.espn.co.uk/football/sport/story/28223.html |

It would be typical that it would be an injury not to his knees that forces him out :(
Redknapp did warn Capello to use THFC's medical staff and training regimes but he was insistant on providing his own. |
Re: FIFA World Cup 2010 South Africa
Not a very convincing start for the Dutch, but a start. Three points against the Danes, who are probably the strongest opposition in the group.
They'll need to find another gear for the knockout stages though. Elia and Affelay brought some much needed pace and width. Van Persie was a bit quiet. |
Re: FIFA World Cup 2010 South Africa
that goal bound flick that vdv had from assist by VP wasnt too bad good reflex of Sorenson.
but all in all a scrappy game but at least its only Japan on Saturday which wont be too bad. |
Re: FIFA World Cup 2010 South Africa
My world cup starts proper tomorrow, when Portugal play their first game. I think they will top the group myself, but I also had Algeria beating Slovenia 2-0 lol.

---------- Post added at 19:59 ---------- Previous post was at 19:55 ---------- For people moaning about the vuzuzelas; i'm in SA and i've been to one match so far. Though it might not come through on TV, the atmosphere was great. Even with them being blown throughout a game, people are still singing and you can still hear normal fan chants etc. It's not just random noises either, different sections play tunes and have call and response chants to the sounds of the vuvuzelas. |
