Legally do they have to unless ordered by a court?? They've repaid the amount owed on the contract you had with them through their cancellation of the service, and the extra money paid is a contract between you and the hotel. If roomsnet pay it back then it'd be purely compensation and not monies owing.

JEAN66 I received the refund of the original amount paid at the end of Oct but I am still waiting for the refund of the extra monies. They don't seem to be replying to my emails now.

I have been waiting six weeks now for my refund I have been given three different dates but of course as yet there has still no money been credited to my account. They have ignored my last two emails. I will go to BBC Watchdog and Trading Standards if my refund does not come this week.
Has anyone had any money returned in the last week and if so how long have you waited.

Not they don't - unless ordered by a court to pay 'compensation' it's entirely at their discretion.

Roomsnet International Special Announcement

Roomsnet International wishes to announce to all our valued members that the problems which led to certain bookings being canceled by some suppliers last year have been resolved. We would like to reassure all our members that all current and future bookings are completely secure and guaranteed. We deeply regret the inconvenience caused to some of our members last year. We have resolved over 96% of the cancellations that were disrupted in 2009 due to circumstances beyond our control arising as a result of the severe economic downturn experienced worldwide and are working with our suppliers and credit card companies to resolve the outstanding cases expeditiously.....

It takes time to build up a good reputation, but only moments to trash it. I suspect that many readers of this thread will be a bit sceptical about roomsnet however the spin doctors try to put a shine on things.

Sorry but "once bitten twice shy" I for one will never book with roomsnet again. Being lied to on the phone and via email does not help a companies reputation. Being told 3 or 4 different excuses as to why your money has been "delayed" in being returned, after paying months in advance for a booking and then having to get the bank to claw the money back from them has NOT given me any confidence in them.
They will have a lot of grovelling to do before me and a lot of people even consider booking with them in this life or the next.

I am not sure that they really understand how it feels to arrive on holiday, tired and just wanting to offload your luggage, to find that the accommodation has not been paid for. Then, to top it all, you end up having to pay again (at a higher rate) to stay. I received my initial money back but not the extra that it cost at the time. I have booked this year's accommodation through a different company and will definitely not use Roomsnet again.

Roomsnet have since contacted me and refunded the extra money that we paid. It looks like they are really trying to make amends.

Re: roomsnet.com warning

Well done Carol on receiving the additional costs back. I too were in the same situation as you. I arrived at my hotel in Majorca to be told that Roomsnet had not paid therefore i had nowhere to stop. I luckily had a friend with me with a credit card and they kindly let me book another room on their card unfortunately at a much higher rate than when booking with Roomsnet. I was gutted at the time and it really ruined my holiday and have only just been able to pay back my friend. After weeks of being told the money would be in my bank in 5 days I finally received my initial money back and was promised the additional costs from Roomsnet the week after. I faxed and emailed them numerous times with all the correspondence they asked for but then their communication with me just fizzled out and they stopped replying to me and i never received back the additional costs.

How did you manage to receive back the additional monies if you dont mind me asking ??

Thanks

davren22.
I think Roomsnet may have refunded the money because of the post that I put on this forum. I had not contacted them for a while. They have also sent me a thank you card signed by members of staff for being a valued member.

Just a long shot but if you click on the name RoomsnetNews in post #156 you will get and option to email them and give then a link back to this thread.

If you were to do so and point out that you have had to post about your not getting a refund of your out of pocket expenses on Cable Forum maybe you will get a response. They do seem to be a bit sensitive about all the negative comments they were getting on this forum.

Good idea. They do seem to be really trying to gain our confidence back. Let us know how you get on (davren22).
