Re: Building my own PC
The repeaters halve the available bandwidths (AFAIK) as the repeating doubles the traffic on the network. This could be your problem.
Perhaps Phoenix mansions needs a WLAN redesign. Two separate WLANS that dont / only just overlap on different frequencies IP ranges that are both trusted to all computers on the current WLAN. |

Edit--maby if I was to upgrade the firmware it might be better but I can't be bothered and it's not much of a problem anyway. :) |
Re: Building my own PC
You just need to make sure something called "QOS" is set up in your router. :)
WinXP has this built into it but it doesn't really work AFAIK. |

2 Attachment(s)
Right, one mobo fitted..........who would have thought that the manufacturer would place so many tiny delicate parts right next to screw holes? :disturbd:
Question.......as you can see, I have plugged in the SATA cables.......do I need to plug in any other mobo to hdd cables or is that it? :dunce: |
Re: Building my own PC
Nope, you've plugged in all the data cables you need.
Now plug the SATA power cable to the hard drive from the PSU. |

Re: Building my own PC
Erm, bit of advice - it would have been a good idea to fit the CPU before installing the mobo.

Re: Building my own PC
Yeah i tend to fit the ram and CPU into the Mobo before i put it in the case (more space to work with).......
But with the size of that case...... and the easy enough to use FX-55 heatsink i dont think he will have any issues at all :) |

Yeah they do seem quite loose dont they. Thats the thing with those SATA cables, they are quite fidley and can break easily. Good luck with completing your system. The most worrying time will be the first switch on, but its also a great time as you experience what you have built. A few quick things to remeber whilst you are building: - Remember that anti static wrist band ! - Make sure you connect up all the fans and cables. - Use cable ties to neatly arrange wires and keep good space for airflow in the case. - Make sure no screws or rubbish is left touching the motherboard and that the motherboard is not touching the case panel. - Dont over tighten screws. - Get a pack of rounded cables for your DVD drive and floppy for about £5 from overclockers. It will be easier to position them and not take up so much space. - Leave space between the graphics card and PCI ports so it can breathe. Put in your PCI cards slightly further down if you have several slots. - Read your motherboard book thoroughly and check your connections twice before you power up. |

BTW - do you not need power cables to your hard disks too? I can only see the data cables. |
