Re: Corbyn's kerfuffle

He was a genuine threat to our way of life precisely because he never abandoned his Marxist principles despite ample evidence, from all over the world, that such principles starve and kill the very people they’re supposedly intended to benefit. He’s a walking fossil. A relic of a period in the 20th century that, thankfully, very few people want back.

Quote from The Sun: The Labour Party is facing “one of its worst” results in the upcoming local elections, according to an internal report.

Months after the worst general election result since 1935, the party is set to lose strong hold councils like Sheffield, Plymouth and Harlow in vote simulations done internally.

The document warns the party is facing “one of our worst local election performances in recent history” in the vote next May.

The incoming Labour leader will have less than a month to reverse the predictions, with the memo bracing the loss of many “hard-working councillors.”

In one simulation the party could lose 418 councillors.

The report states: “Based on the 2019 General Election and the subsequent ‘bounce’ in the polls for the Tories, we fully expect to lose hard-working councillors and lose control of some councils.”

It adds: “Our predictive modelling points to substantial losses that may constitute one of our worst Local Election performances in recent history.”
The piece on the link above does say that a new leader may reduce the damage.

Depends on who the new leader is.

I doubt it, with the choice that's there.

It does seem, if the polls are right, that Labour are going to go for Keir Starmer which would be an improvement.

l have just heard the Andrew Neil interview and the RLB interview with him was akin to a car crash.

Keir Starmer is well ahead of her in the polls.

They lost my vote when they u-turned and became anti brexit, had I known that in the 2017 GE I wouldn't have voted liebour, and i expect we would have been out the the EU a year ago.

Wonder if Jeremy's brother will be out by then after his spot of bother with the law. I did laugh at the protests in other cities, the two in Wales in particular, one when no one turned up and the other where two people turned up, Bob and John iirc, they brought with them a dossier on how 5G was responsible for corona virus, how deluded are your delusions of grandeur to believe you have such a dossier

No idea why this is still open, the original topic is long dead. Time to retire it.
