That's a really constructive post. Well done. Reminds me of http://www.quora.com/If-someone-is-w...action-to-take

And why is it wrong to use the incorrect spelling of there/they're when you use FFS. In the grand scheme of things how is that technically different?

Don't Premier Sports show them right now?

Maybe FOX is set to takeover Setanta Sports Ireland and Premier Sports?

I would severely doubt that , most of the rights to those are with other UK broadcasters and how much interest would a channel like that have ? Very little in my opinion.

Please someone xplain on this forum.

VM are driving me nuts over new sports channels on VM. I was advised by VM that ALL sports channels would be in HD, and FREE as part of package. Which l have.

The Philipines office said l have to pay for HD channels, even though we are supposed to get them free.

Still not had a reply despite email sent on 20th July. Get a letter today regarding changes to SS subs. Says all SS channels free in packgae.

Yet again on to CS. they tell me that l have to have a Tivo HD (which l have) and that sports channels are free.

There is nothing in the letter that says l have to pay for HD channels ie sports.

VM are driving me nuts, and the CS in Philipines in totally disgraceful - do VM care -NO.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2014) Vol. 3

It is possible there is crossed wires here on both sides. Arthur tells them he has the Sports package, to which CS assume he also has the HD sub. So in essence, it is true that the HD channels would be free, as they are assuming he already has the HD sub.

Arthur, we need both Sky Sports and the HD sub to get the new HD channels at no extra cost

True this is taken off the website.

Sky premium HD channels 7 per month when subscribing to Sky premium SD channels.*

Sky Sports HD & Sky Movies HD:You must subscribe to Sky Sports and/or Sky Movies in SD to take these channels in HD. Sky Sports 3 HD and Sky Sports 4 HD are not included. Sky Movies Premiere +1 not available in HD. It's 7 a month for Sky Sports and Sky Movies in HD.

they need to update that 3 and 4 are available

Not the first time Fox has bought a Setanta company. Last year it bought Setanta Africa and will re-launch the channels as Fox Sports channels next month.
Would be interesting to see if they carried on retailing BT Sport in Ireland if this occurred and if the competition authorities in Ireland would allow Fox to purchase Setanta.

Sounds like most corporate social networking pages. They are run by, I assume youngsters, who know nothing of any substance and are more interested in making 'cute' and 'quirky' comments than being able or willing to help with any customer concerns or complaints.

I recently had to complain about the facebook staff of a major supermarket. They were more interested in engaging in idle banter with happy customers than helping those with problems. Head office dealt with my problem, awarded me compensation and said that they were going to retrain their staff. I hope they do, because I'll be speaking to them again if there is any repetition :D

Firstly, I refuse to deal with the idiotic robotic foreign call centre employees, so have been given a special number to ring during office hours.

Any simple problem will be made difficult if this is attempted, so i'm not surprised that you have been given the runaround. The last time I gave them a chance, they kept insisting that I needed to contact Virgin Mobile when I enquired about buying mobile minutes for my landline. Even after repeatedly explaining that this was not a Virgin Mobile issue, they carried on reading their little script. When they actually started to develop an attitude, I referred the matter to a senior manager within VM after giving them a piece of my mind.

I am aware of the misleading promotional material that you are in possession of that misleads customers into thinking that the Sky Sports HD channels are available at no extra charge to customers who take the Sky Sports SD package. This is incorrect and consistent with the appalling communication standards of Virgin Media. If you want the HD variants of Sky Sports, you DO have to pay an extra 7 a month.

In my opinion, your only recourse would be to refer the matter to Trading Standards and/or The Advertising Standards Authority. Depending on their decision/s, Virgin Media may offer you something by way of an apology.

As for needing a "TiVo HD" to receive HD channels, the box is not labelled as HD, as all VM TiVo boxes are HD capable. Secondly, the V HD box should also receive the Sky Sports HD channels without any problem- this is probably more of the nonsense that they spout all day long.

UPC Ireland also has Setanta Sports 1 in HD. Sky Ireland only has the channel in SD. (Setanta Sports 1 is the same as Premier Sports in GB but with the addition of the 3pm Premier League matches.)

VM have a few UK contact centres. Just pure luck who you get through to.

They are not a waste of time at all. They provide a lot of extra support although not always as helpful as they could be.

How small minded and also so very wrong. VM among others now make a point of hiring staff for their social media pages and they are anything but youngsters. They are highly trained members of staff and work very hard to monitor all Social Media and attempt to interact with customers both in a formal manor and also a fun way. Its how people connect and by interacting and having a bit of fun are more likely to get people engaged and talking. I personally find Cineworld a good example on Twitter and interact with them regularly.

The 'fun' banter is also what gets them noticed and mention in the press especially at times when a customer may have a big problem and need help. Light heartedness really can help if done in the right way.

Just to play devil's advocate, I'm not entirely sure I think the two BsIB are compatible statements. Either they're completely up to the job, or they're a waste of time.

I agree if they are not being as helpful as they could be then they are sub standard employees, but it isn't just VM I had to ring Barclays the other day to change something on my current account and the guy in India ended up transferring me to Sunderland because he struggled to explain the consequences of the account changes :erm:

Surely it is a different situation between cineworld and VM. What are you going to complain to cineworld twitter about? If you have a problem at the cinema (i.e. your food or drink is bad, you see them there and then to get a refund.) If I was asking for film recommendations or anything on twitter I would expect to get some banter if they thought a film I wanted to see was bad.

If you have a problem with your internet, phone or TV service, surely you want the problem sorted asap? I would not want someone bantering with me when they could be helping to give me a soloution to a problem sooner. Equally, I would not want to keep someone else (or personnally be kept waiting) with a problem waiting for a response from the twitter team whilst they were trying to have a laugh with me (or someone ahead of me). I find that pretty unprofessional.

Twitter can be very useful for basic questions/queries but the staff must use common sense. If someone sounds upset and just wants a problem fixing, is banter the right way to go? If you were complaining in a supermarket about a product being rubbish or over-priced, would you accept someone bantering with you (i.e. you get what you pay for, just try a different product or buy a cheaper one next time) before you got an apology and a refund or replacement? I have never known it be acceptable. I have known many people not get angry about a situation, but I have never felt the need to start a bit banter with someone complaining.

Personally I do not see the point of highlighting issues via twitter, a calm, collected and non angry phone call to any business is always the best way to get things sorted in my eyes.

WAKE UP VM YOUR CS OFFICES OVERSEAS ARE A TOTAL WASTE OF TIME - BRING THEM BACK TO THE UK

Exactly Arthur. As an experiment, I called them earlier to ask about the removal of the EPG listings for the radio channels on the V+. As expected, they went through their robotic script and I ended up being offering an engineer visit. Of course I declined this, as SP had already explained that some data had been removed to accommodate the extra channels for the Commonwealth Games.

It would be really interesting to find out how many VM engineers have their time wasted by this lot, thus wasting company resources and keeping customers with legitimate faults waiting.

The so called "support" that you claim they provide is at the expense of British jobs. VM lost a lot of experienced staff by closing their call centre at Albert Dock to enable these idiots to flourish, even though they are barely able to splutter a coherant word in English.

It isn't just pot luck for me as to who I get through to, as I have made it clear that I will not deal with them and have been given a special UK number to call during office hours.

It really would be disturbing if the people on the facebook page to which I referred were mature people, but, thankfully, they weren't. From what I can gather, they were students employed by an agency on behalf of the supermarket to monitor their facebook page, post a few inane comments and feed back any problems.

Thankfully, the CEO of this particular supermarket agreed with my sentiments rather than yours. I received an apology, some vouchers by way of restoring the lost goodwill that this behaviour had caused and an assurance that it wouldn't happen again following retraining, so we will now have to wait and see.

I am not a lover of the attempt to make everything informal and artificial fun, I find it unprofessional, insulting and irritating (as my bank quickly found out after attempting to start to address me by my first name).

It is also a very dangerous game to play, as a VM social network member of staff found out at the start of BT Sport. His idea of "banter" and "quirky fun" involved taunting a VM customer who was complaining about the lack of BT Sports on VM about the fact that he would be missing out. Is this an example of the "highly trained" and "hard working" nature of these people that you referred to?

Couldn't have put it better myself Harry, although I would add that twitter etc can be useful if the company is not sorting problems out appropriately or indeed at all.

It's AMAZING how quickly matters are resolved after one airs the companys dirty linen in public ;

I don't think that Local TV has much of a future. London Live is struggling to survive (and this is in our capital city) and is wanting to reduce costs by reducing their locally produced content to only one hour a day! Their top performing programmes are reruns of London's Burning!

There was an interesting article about this earlier today on Radio 4's 'The Media Show'.

Even worse when you know there is a fault and have done all the tests and just need to book a visit. The overseas call centre robot insists on sticking to the script and rechecking everything you have already tested. Eventually deciding that there isn't a fault simply because you don't want to waste time repeating what you have already done. It's always useful to have a contact to complain to when you hit that dead end!

It's been high up the EPG for a long time and I'd imagine most people access it by typing in the number. If it was moved they probably wouldn't be able to find it.

The problem is they DON'T stick to the script. If they did, they would have given Richard the correct answer instead of offering a tech visit.

It's a real mixed bag on the channel. I've looked ahead at the first few days of prime time viewing and have picked these out at the highlights:

Hardcore Pawn: Chigaco
Conan
Container Wars (Pretty much storage wars but people bidding for shipping containers)

However the show I'm looking forward to is Redneck Island. Twelve rednecks are stranded on a tropical island with Stone Cold Steve Austin, but this is no holiday, they're here to compete for $100,000.

Overseas customer service is a pain in the backside, i was already annoyed with my mobile getting suspended for a outstanding balance of a huge staggering end of the world facing bankrupcy situation 9p which vm hadn't notified me the bank hadn't paid the direct debit in the first place.
Annoyed i phoned up to ask why i had been suspended was quite annoyed and cs thought they'd use banter with me, yup great idea.
Anyway got to bottom of the problem it was a bank error not mine or vms fault paid the 9p and asked if next time there's a issue could they at least make a attempt to contact me to notify me, cs rep decided to make a joke of it which resulted in me blowing my top and cancelling all services.
Regretting it now as was a bit of a over-reaction so will call tomorrow to uncancel lol.
Lesson is cs do annoy us at times but try to remain calm or you may do something you regret.

I currently sub to it, it works out at £5.88p/m atm so if they keep it around that price in uk launch it'll be excellent value for money.

Even £10p/m is excellent value bud when you take into consideration all the back catalog and that ppvs would cost £14.95/£17.95 each on Sky box office too.
I just finished watching the attitude era documentary ah those were the days eh lol.

I have another link for you guys who are interested

Fans of professional wrestling seem to be enjoying WWE's new online network. The company announced during its most recent earnings report that it has 700,000 subscribers to date, which is a pretty great sum given the service's mere five-month existence, a relatively young history. But WWE doesn't want to stop there, and it plans to keep expanding its digital channel to more places. To do just that, WWE Network will be arriving in 170 new countries next month, on August 12th, including Australia, Hong Kong, Mexico, Singapore, Spain and the Nordic region. In addition to those, WWE revealed its video service is also headed to China, Germany, Japan, India, Italy, Malaysia, Thailand and UAE, but that further details about this won't be shared until later on

Not that I will watch it, but thought you guys might want to see this :)

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2014) Vol. 3

Seems off that it is in the documentary and factual part of the EPG rather than the general entertainment.

It is no big loss if it does not arrive on VM as those that want it can get it though Freeview. The line up looks very poor. Considering all the content that Turner have available they have picked some dross. I find it funny that if you watch the preview loop on Freeview every other advert for what is coming is for Conan. Which tells me they do not have much in store for the channel.

I was really hoping for Impractical Jokers USA which does not seem to be coming to the channel despite it showing on Tru TV in the USA.

I am shocked they are allowed to use the name Tru TV in the UK due to True Movies and True Entertainment having similar names.

Virgin channel list is :nutter: I mean:

-Local TV channels being on Channel 159 when Channel 119 is free.
-More4 +1 being on Channel 196 when channel 141 is free.
-No channels on 185 to 188.
-Lifetime being on Channel 242 and not part of general entertainment.

Yes they are going to have to do something as they are running out of space by having these gaps all over the EPG. The perfect time to do it would have been when the Sky channels moved. I guess by it not happening means VM do not see it as a priority which may also mean no new channel launches are coming any time soon in the general entertainment space.
